I've just changed to Ebico for my elec and gas and it has no standing charges foe either but cheap unit charges too (same as EON).
It is the UK's only not for profit energy company and has great customer service - voted best and they email straight back.
I have a link on the referral board and receive a 15 pound Amazon voucher if you sign up. Highly recommended as I am saving 39p a day just on standing charges or 142 pounds a year and the unit rate's the same for me.
also pay quarterly in cash, direct debit or monthly and the costs the same.

Wow. Eon must have extortionate prices, then.
Ebico prices per kWh are not cheap - about 40% extra for each and every unit of gas, about 25% extra for each and every unit of electricity. Not many people can make that back from daily standing charge savings.
You either need an abnormally low consumption or an aversion to Direct Debits to benefit from Ebico's extortionate prices. You also have to be pretty brutal and willing to exploit the vulnerable if, on the off chance, they do happen to be favourable for you.0 -
Switching to Ebico would cost me £544 a year, hardly a saving :cool:0

Jesus, you'd have to be using next to nothing to make a saving on those unit rates.
For the vast majority of users the standing charge forms a very minor part of their billing.0 -

Sounds !!!!. And you're a spammer - 6000 posts or not.0 -
I used to be with ebico. They worked out cheapest for me when I lived alone in a 2 bed flat but when I moved to a larger house with an older boiler it worked out cheaper to be on a tariff with a standing charge.0

You are completely incorrect, as anyone with any knowledge of gas/electricity prices will confirm.
Ebico is an excellent company but is only attractive for those with very low gas/electricity consumption.
For someone with the average UK consumption (13,500kWh gas and 3,300kWh electricity) Ebico's tariff is in 71st position out of 72 listed and is 42.4% more expensive than the cheapest tariff.
Presenting misinformation that might cost people hundreds of pounds a year extra so you can get a measly £15 is something about which you should be ashamed.0 -
The crossover point for Ebico gas consumption is around 2100 kWh per year – which is very low. Even in that case, Zog Energy works out cheaper. Most gas users will consume a lot more than 2100 kWh in a year so Ebico is not for the majority.
Ebico is very useful for anyone who doesn't want to use gas but does want to keep their mains gas connection.0 -
so eon must be very expensive then as my ebico rates are virtually the same. I suspected Eon was expensive so now I now so!! good job I'm a low user and use no gas in the spring summer at all.0

Hello all, I'm on an Ebico tariff for both Gas and Electric and I'm pretty sure I am in the low user category.
My usage figures for 2014 (actual) are Electric 1648 kW/h and Gas 2566 kW/h.
My ESTIMATED annual usage according to my November bill is Electric 1755 kW/h and Gas 3142 kW/h.
While I do think this is a better tariff for my gas usage, I do not use enough to cover a standing charge throughout spring summer and most of autumn, I am not so sure about the electric. I think I am breaking about even on this and I might even be better off on a standing charge tariff. Must do some more research...
By the way, I am a low user by choice, pay by DD and I have Smart meters.
Ebico is definitely not for everyone, especially their electric tariff.
Edited to add: My property is a first floor single bedroom maisonette. So a small property!0 -
As my heating and hot water is off for 3 to 4 months a year i am about to work out ant potential saving on a no standing charge service .
Unit rates of 5.4 Gas and 16.84 elect are a lot higher than 3.84 and 13.89 .0
