fridge freezer arrived with dents in doors

We bought a fridge-freezer from co-operative electrical and when it was delivered we opened the packaging after the delivery men had gone and noticed a dent in the fridge door and a smaller dent in the freezer door.
What are our rights regarding this? I am assuming it was dented in the delivery van. I shall be calling co-operative electrics tomorrow morning but wanted to check if anyone has experienced similar and if so what happened.

You are entitled to reject the goods for a full refund if that is what you want. If the company are willing to supply a replacement then you can do that too. Either way the company must collect the damaged unit at their cost and your convenience.
I'm sure they'll sort it for you when you get in touch.0 -
Did you read the T&C of the Co-Op Electrical?

Very rarely do we deliver damaged goods – however due to the nature of large kitchen appliances sometimes white boxes do get damaged. Please ensure you inspect your product while the delivery driver is in your home, this makes the necessary action on this product a lot easier. If you are not ready to unpack your product at the time of delivery we strongly recommend that your product is unpacked, inspected then re-packed.
Our delivery teams are instructed to unpack your product, if they do not offer this service please remind them that you have paid for this service. Please note you must inform us of any damage within 7 days of delivery, any damage reported after this date will not be accepted.0 -
Delivery forms always have the blurb about the guys un-packing for you, but they don't always do it, do they :-S ...and you're pressured to sign without getting a proper look at it.
I had a dented fridge once (pressured to sign without fully checking it - these days, I'd be more assertive). I got an exchange without any fuss. They also offered a discount if I'd kept the damaged one, but I suspected the A-rated insulation would be compromised, so I went for the exchange.0 -
We has the same issue with a dryer from Fenwicks, they will unpack the new appliance and even take away the old one. The took the old one out of our house and brought in the new one unpacked it and their was this 3 inch long scratch down one side and an inch deep dent, so we stated we were rejecting this, but they could not take it back and we just had to sign their sheet which i did also listing the faults. and off they went. i then phones the store again as could not get through to them when delivery guys were still their and spoke to a nice guy for their electrical dept. He stated he would contact the delivery dept and get it collected, but it would be another week before they could deliver another one as they only deliver to my area once a week. I was not happy and pointed out they stated they would deliver a dryer that day and they just delivered a damaged item and would not wait another week. he then told me he would see what he could do and phone back. well about 10 mins. later the same delivery guys turned up to take away the damaged item ( they did not look happy) got a phone call from fenwicks to say they would have another delivered the following morning0

What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Which means the OP has a sure-fire winning position to get a refund or exchange.0 -
Back in my mail order days our first response to this sort of thing would be to offer a discount for the customer to keep it. If it didnt sound safe to be kept (in an untrained judgement) or where the customer didnt want to keep it even with a discount then its a case of either arranging a collection and refund or an exchange depending on the stock situation.
Your rights are to ask for a refund by rejecting the goods0
