End of Contract - Some advice wanted

It's that time again and it never seems to be straightforward!

I have been with T Mobile for 3 years, this the end of my 2nd 18 month contract. I pay £20 a month and currently have the S4 mini with 100 mins/txts and unlimited data. The mins/txts and data are fine for what I need.

EE want me to upgrade with them switching to a 24 month contract and want £25 a month for the S5 mini with 500 mins/txts and 500mg of data. So all in all that means an increase of 6 months on the contract length and an overall increase in cost of £240 over the length of the contract. They will let me stay on my current 18 month plan but want £240 for the phone up front. So either way they get their pound of flesh.

So I started looking around and have found a few sites offering the S5 mini for £18.99 a month for 24 months with 100 mins, unlimited txts and 1gb of data, with T Mobile - my current provider! So I got back in touch with EE/T Mobile and put this plan to them asking them to match it. They won't do it saying they won't match a 3rd party deals as it is not cost effective. I argued that if Carphone Warehouse can do it and make a profit, then surely they can do the same but they won't move from £25 a month.

So I have spoken to retentions and they won't do it, in fact they won't even make me an offer that is better than anything on their website. So I have given my 30 days notice and got a pac code from them.

I find it all a bit crazy really, I can go back to T Mobile with the phone I want and a tariff that suits my usage as a new customer but they can't or won't offer me that deal as an upgrade.

Can I go to Carphone Warehouse to get the deal I want now even though I still have a contract I am serving notice on, or do I need to wait until the notice has finished?

Any help on this or advice would be welcome.
Thanks in advance.

You can if you don't mind paying for two contracts for a month.
Also, if it's the same T-mobile you won't be able to keep your old number unless you try porting it in two steps via some other network's PAYG sim. And beware that if you don't port the number out, your old contract will go on regardless of the notice given.

Yes they did mention that when I got the PAC number from them, it is all a bit of a carry on just to get the best deal.
