I do baby photography in hospitals and once did a little boy who was dressed in pink because the mum was told she was having a girl and had bought everything girly!

(We wrapped the baby in a white shawl so the pink didn't show!)

hi again, dont know where you live but our scan was in nottingham and was only £85 for the DVD, lots of pictures and CD of all pictures. the face pictures were blurry as baby wouldnt move her face so they invited us back again for another try - twice! well worth the £85, we have an album of scan photos now!!

i live in london hun. i know that the scans arent majorly expensive, but we are trying to save all the money we can at the moment so its a no-no for me. i have seen pics of other peoples and they look fab, i am sooo jealous! i have had 6 normal scans so far, and have pics from 4 of them- the other 2, he had his back to the camera!

Is it just here South Lanarkshire that we aren't allowed to ask what sex the baby is then? Unless you got the private sexing scans.

i think that different nhs trusts have different policies on whether they tell you the sex or not. it may not even be a trust policy, just the policy of that particular hospital. i asked at my 20 week scan and was told straight away

we found out last year that our 3rd baby was a boy, I already had 2 boys, and still most people found it hard to believe that I knew what it was and those that bought blue, still kept the receipts as i "looked different to the other pregnancies"!!

    Can't win them all!

Some hospitals will not tell you - we could of chosen one of 3 hospitals, 2 will tell you, one will not (not why we went there though). I think it depends on the area on where you live - some cultures are not keen on having girls as a first child and I was told that they do not tell you for this reason. Shows what a sad world we live in though, you choose to get rid of your baby because it is not the sex that you want.

I have a friend who is desparate for a girls and has 2 boys, she cannot cope with the children she has but will have more because she wants a girl and the boys get dressed in something that is pink (like a hat or t-shirt, not dresses, LOL) but I can't even imagine being this desperate for one sex of child it would come to this. But, whether she would get rid of a child if she founf she was having another boy I have never asked her, it's a sensitive subject really, but I can understand why HA impose the not telling rule.

Oh and yes, yes I know someone who was told they were having a girl and a boy came out!! Oops!! Good you saw his bits and pieces then!! That made me smile for the day.

Oh yes and just to add - if your son is anything lke mine then you'll be seeing a lot more of them. Is it just mine or do they love to waggle their bits around at every opportunity. LOL!! My son is naked at every opportunity. He was dressed half an hour ago and right now he is running around the garden naked.

thats exactly why they wont tell you the sex where i live

it may sound radical, but im of the opinion that if you have a perfectly healthy baby aborted purely because its not the sex you want then you should be sterilised at the same time... it proves your far too selfish to be parents.
obviously there are cases where the parent HAS to know... my friends mum had a condition that only affected boys, and everytime she fell pregnant with a boy it had an 'incompatible with life' type thing wrong with it...so they had to terminate a particular sex,
but just because it doesnt go with your little plans? soooo wrong.

god thats awful getting rid of a baby cos its not the 'right' sex for you. sorry but abortion shouldnt be allowed for that reason.
as for your friend having more kids than she can cope with purely cos she wants a girl- i know someone who did exactly the same thing and she had 5 boys before she got her girl. a baby is a blessing at the end of the day, and those of us lucky enough to get pregnant should be truly grateful instead of moaning that we wanted this or that. it wouldnt have made one little bit of difference to me if the sonographer had told me yesterday that we were having a girl, apart from the fact that she would look very masculine for the first 6 months or so!
glad i made you smile hun x
