This has always been a bugbear. Trying to get transparency is impossible, it's the reason I don't get involved with subsidy junkie debate.
I know wings is mostly dismissed on here but I don't think anyone can dispute he does spend a lot of time researching. I'd like to see this debunked but I might wait some time would the blogger he speaks of be Kevin Hague?[/QUOTE would the blogger he speaks of be Kevin Hague?[/QUOTE
I assume you realise the article wasn't written by Stu? You won't have to wait, as it was dismissed online by several people before KH got a chance to respond. Which I see he has now done.
But I'm not sure there's any point in arguing or point scoring these blogs now.
Particulalry when Sturgeon has never denied the existence of a 7 billion financial black hole, or attempt to claim it was any smaller or incorrect. In any of several interviews she gave during the FFA discussion. Unless you think she was wrong.
However what she wasn't transparent or IMO was dishonest about , was the unsustainable borrowing or economic growth which would be required to cover it, in the start up years (decades) . And that the more likely outcome was huge cuts and raised taxes.
Which is why thousands like me don't trust Sturgeon. I know many possibly thousands say they are willing to be worse off etc etc, but I don't believe every single Yes voter would agree with you .Obviously neither did Salmond nor Sturgeon.
The point I was making skint is it is impossible to try and get to the bottom of exactly what we contribute and what exactly comes under uk spending.
As far as the black hole goes you say 7 billion, some say 8, some say 9, some say more. What is the true figure. Does anyone truly know? Doubt it as until we get transparency it's impossible to.0

( but nothing is certain in politics. That's what keeps it interesting ). ).
but a smart PM might offer scotland a new referendum...
what would Nicola do : refuse?0

 Marriage Counsellor:
Dear Scotland- you're being vindictive and petty, you spend 125% of your income and then demand more say on how you spend WM's money. And when WM stands up to your irrational behaviour you throw repeated tantrums threatening to leave. When you agreed to stay together it meant exactly that. Grow up.
Dear WM - you have the patience of a Saint - for the children's sake I hope you don't let Scotland suffer the consequences of such immature behaviour, not that I'd blame you if you did.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

If you believe Mr Salmond and his projections of how much surplus Scotland would have with oil revenues at $120/$150 a barrel, then you can just recalculate with current oil prices at sub $50/barrel.
Even £7bn is a lot of money. The highly controversial loss of child benefit for higher rate taxpayers will struggle to save the country even £1bn.0

I can't keep up with mine either. Not after Labour voted down to devolve tax credits with the Tories (477-56) after spending the last week demanding the SNP clean up Westminster's mess in future.
Says it all... Stitch up right enough.Mhairi Black MP @MhairiBlack 49m49 minutes ago Mundell has confirmed to me that there is NO guarantee that the Tories will not take back any top-up made to benefits by Scot Gov @theSNPWings Over Scotland @WingsScotland 23 mins23 minutes agoSo: Labour vote against Holyrood controlling tax credits, and Tories say they might claw back any mitigation payments. What a stitch-up.The one Labour MP agrees with the one Tory MP, while 55 SNP MPs are ignored. The Liberal MP is in court for lying. #ScotlandBillIt all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0

Scotland puts in £600 a week into the household and keeps £400. Scotland then gets given housekeeping of £850 a week out of that £600 pot. The difference comes from the partner working a well paid job in London, topped up with some borrowing on the credit cards.
The credit card spending was a worry but that seems to be coming under control as their income rises and they cut back on non-essential spending (the school fees and health insurance bills are the first to get paid though!).
Unfortunately, a friend keeps telling the partner in Edinburgh that they'd be far better off leaving this abusive marriage as they could get to keep all of the £1,000 a week and make more decisions about where it goes.
The partner is torn between wanting a bit more autonomy and affection for the OH. Also they are quite concerned about where the other £250 is going to come from. The friend is full of reassurances about income being volatile and how being alone is far better than in this unequal union.
It all came to a bit of a head a year or so ago but they talked things out and decided that with a few changes, what they had worked in the best interest of them both. The friend said that if they talked about it and decided the status quo was best for them then the subject would be dropped but now the friend keeps making unsubtle hints that maybe that shouldn't be the case.0
