You've gone from saying any dissent is in private to there isn't any dissent because things are going swimmingly. I'd say dissent on currently is on the low side and what there is is stamped out immediately.

I haven't clicked through to the links but, judging by the headlines, other people are suggesting the SNP have suppressed dissent by gagging it. Of course the time for the leadership to get this through is when they're on their uppers when dissent might well be on the low side. Not a great policy when the wind changes though unless your views are protected inside the circle of trust.

No, divided parties are rarely vote winners - can't see why it matters unless one supports a political party like a football team.

I said IF there was any dissent then it has been kept private. But the newspapers even find cause to find fault with the fact that there doesn't seem to be any dissent.

The SNP spent years and years 'in fighting' over independence or nothing ( Sillars )... or a gradual approach ( Salmond) until eventually Salmond won out. It was only then the SNP started making some real gains electorally. Then spent a few years recently under the microscope with Salmond himself saying he was completely unprepared for what happened during the referendum. And whatever you or I think... there IS now a perception in Scotland, that the SNP and how they are reported within the media is very different to other political parties. And not in a positive way.

Dissent can wait until after May 2016.
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

Am not sure why you're referencing me. I've said on many occasions Trident isn't something I personally get my knickers in a twist over. However, many do.

I see Scottish Labour are going to debate and vote on their 'own' policy this weekend. If they vote 'No renewal' and the UK party vote Yes ( which is what will win out as it's a reserved matter ).... Trouble ahead.

A very appropriate analogy; they weren't Ukraine's bombs, any more than Trident has Scotland's bombs.

They belonged to the occupying army of the larger country next door that used them and their bairns as a human shield against (in Ukraine's case) our good western bombs. Any chances they could ever be turned on an invading near neighbour are paradoxically both slim and fat.;)

The MSM was totally negative about the SNP. They totally miscalled the 2011 Scottish election and were wrongfooted by the SNP's landslide. They've struggled to say anything objectively correct ever since. If Nic stoped her car at a red traffic light , their headlnes would all shout out "SNP progress stalled by unexpected setback" or similar. :o

Taken out of context it just isn't funny. It's like someone telling you the catchphrase from a show you've never seen.

The meme is funny because it makes you part of the gang. I'm not an SNP supporter and I barely use Twitter so I'm not part of the in-group for this joke.

It's ok, I'm just messing with you.

We'll put it down to a 'senior' moment. :)

Twitter takes quite a bit of getting used to but it's the best medium for instant updates & information. Nothing goes unnoticed, prolific tweeters are razor sharp at relaying anything of importance to their followers & beyond.

It really is a fun place sometimes too. I very rarely tweet myself, just mooch around and read articles etc.

I could be wrong but I don't think wishart started it

And it really wasn't that hard to get if you were watching twitter ... I noticed wee Kez didn't even try to deny it ... just drew a look off Keith when it got mentioned ed as if to say how dare u mention that ... that's not fair

I didn't think he had. Was referring to fact Wishart had slightly changed the words round on his tweet .Reflecting what their MPs do before issuing party central spin under their own name on their Twitter accounts.

Perhaps I was wrongly crediting him with guile or humour he doesn't possess, and the truth of the matter is, he is really so inept, he couldn't even get that tweet right.

    Och skint lighten up :)

It was just a bit of fun on Twitter.

Has anyone watched Kezia being questioned by Brian Taylor on BBC? I've only watched the 1st 15 minutes and while he is being gentle with her she is coming over not too bad. A couple of sticky moments re autonomy for Scottish labour but overall the best I've seen her. Actually very complementary about Nicola & some of her policies too. I do like when politicians can give praise as well as criticise.

I did watch it ... was quite interesting after the night before ... it did make me wonder if she had phoned her da and said " da Gonnae help me "

And if that's the case then great ( no disrespect intended) maybe she has listened and is slowly learning ... we need a good opposition in our country ... we need to hold the Scottish government to account ( no matter who is in charge)

Labour need to learn so that we can have a good opposition ...

Did laugh my backside off at the wings bit though :)

Perhaps, but SNP weren't any different in this regard. Except their negativity was served with a dollop of positivity of hope and a dream , and served out at grass root level. In town halls, activists in work places, (including hospitals) social media etc. Unless you lived here during this time not sure how you could have been aware of this.

Did I say it wasn't? Read my post again, and see if you understand it next time round.

I haven't lived in Scotland these last 30+ years. What I did notice was how Scotland dropped off the media as if it had fallen into the sea.

When the devolution stuff happened it reappeared but with such negative coverage you'd have thought a Channel Island was trying to go communist.

My wider family and lifelong friends still live up there, and are mainly against independence. It's their business.

The utter gibbering nonsense on stilts about Scotland that gets reported down here is what makes me post on this topic.

If you want to believe the Americans never went to the moon, Iraq could have threatened Britain, and Scotland has built wormholes connecting all rUK wallets/bank acounts to their sporrans for money extraction purposes, good luck with that!
