  • Well he was talking about Rev "I lie through my teeth" Stu, so a statement of fact. :)

You don't have to like Rev Stu to see where he's going right with his blog. It's successful because despite his unashamed bias. He does what a lot of investigative journalism used to do. Most of the media these days just parrot press releases and lay actual journalists off. Agree or not, he raises questions and sources his assertions well.

I'm not quite sure what Dr Scott does.
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

I wonder what Hamish & Skint feel about EVEL and its implications, care to respond any of you?

For the record I am an SNP supporter & member but don't wish to hark back to last years arguments. I think I may be representative of quite a few people who just do not see an alternative credible party here that I'd consider voting for at the moment.

I've no problem with it , as it stands Leanne along with thousands of other Scots. As for SNP they are doing themselves no favours with No voters, with their faux outrage and the silly games they play at Westminster on a near daily basis.

Eg Pete Wishart today proclaiming in Westminster this was a dastardly deed, yet last October slating Labour for getting in a tizzy over EVEL, a subject Pete himself declared no one in Scotland cared about. Hypocite.

It doesn't and won't affect Barnett funding, and to be honest even if it did, I'd probably still think the same. As long as the increased cost effect of our geographical spread and sparser population etc was allowed for.

Which it certainly is with extra to spare.

Not possible to be a credible investigative journalist with unashamed bias. IMO. Particularly the level of unashamed bias he has. Lol.

Please tell me it wasn't you who tweeted earlier 'as usual we will have to wait for real journalists like @wingsoverscotland to find out what is really going on' ?

Is he actually a Reverend of a dodgy internet 'church' as I saw claimed on a blog?

Isn't this guff about EVEL just an attempt to get English Nationalism to roar so there are even more nutters frothing about the tiny differences that exist between the UK nations.

It must frustrate the SNP greatly that most English people will just say 'what's EVEL?'. I doubt the issue occupies much bandwidth for most Scots either.

In the SNP twittersphere they're performing ideological gymnastics trying to bend this into something to get worked up about.

The problem of course is that it's an inevitable consequence of increased devolution for Scotland so there is simply no way to justify a stance against it if you are also for increased powers at Holyrood.

As Scottish MP's at Westminster have less and less to vote on that concerns their own constituents, due to so much being spun off to Holyrood, there is no way to justify England not being accorded a similar degree of autonomy over their own affairs.

If English MP's can't vote on most Scottish issues, then Scottish MP's shouldn't be allowed to vote on most English issues.

Exceptions have been written into the law for matters in England that also affect funding for Scotland, but other than that, Scottish MP's really now just need to focus on the proportion of Westminster legislation that applies to reserved matters that affect everyone equally like foreign affairs, defence, etc.

I do read his stuff. You should practice what you preach occasionally. It was Kevin Hague feeding Andrew Neil those, now debunked and shown to be false figures. I and many other's say Kevin Hague exchanging tweets with Neil then boasting about how those figures on the Daily Politics 'look familiar' * wink wink.

And whatever you have to say about Wings, and I confess it's not somewhere I read on a daily or even weekly basis ( though I see his Twitter updates). He's been far more successful at what he does than Kevin Hague is. Personalities aside.

It will soon. Most of those who are unaware of it soon will be the next time there's an important bill to be passed that is contentious in it's 'Englishness only'. Media like the Daily Mail will make sure of it. Those that are aware have high expectations of it.. despite the fact that truly English only bills are pretty rare these days, and are expecting to be able to pass bills, for example, on the NHS/Education etc etc with impunity now EVEL is in place. They're going to be pretty disappointed that this won't happen.. and will push further to exclude non-English MP's and widen the remit of EVEL. Yesterday is only the first step.

Like those that say the SNP will never be satisfied. So it will be with EVEL imo.

Oh Hamish. What you're describing, is actually.. independence. You should take a step back and listen to yourself lol. You're so blinded by getting one over on the SNP that you can't see the wood for the trees anymore.

MP's constrained on votes by where their seats happen to be geographically and nationally. Is the first step in dissolving a UK wide political union. Whichever parties are involved, UK MP's are for the first time, now defined in national terms of what they can and cannot do.
