Yet another year the SNP have chosen not to spend the budget allocated to them in service of the Scottish people.

There were underspends in the social justice, education, infrastructure and health budgets.

£350,000,000 in underspend.

Tory cuts my ar5e.

Haha.. you've GOT to be joking. As with all Scottish budgets, an underspend is simply rolled over into next years spending. By law the Scottish Govt has to stay within it's limits. Labour Govt's did the same too. In fact McConnell handed a billion or so back to ( Labour in power ) Westminster. T'was always thus.



Seems that underspends are good in times of austerity.. unless its the SNP that are doing so. Make your mind up. Would you rather they overspent perhaps instead ? Only, you'd be having a right good old go at that as well wouldn't you. :cool:

And the Michelle Thomson story gets even worse.....

A series of emails has been leaked, implicating the Chief Exec of the SNP (who is none other than Nicola's husband) in a plot to remove Michelle Thomson from her role as MD of Business for Scotland before the referendum.

But then covering it up by allowing her to continue to use the MD title in press interviews even though she was asked not to come in to the office, hold staff meetings, or get paid.

And as if that wasn't bad enough, it's now also being reported that Michelle openly bragged about her '50% Below Market Value' property flipping deals on her facebook page for all her friends to see.

And as if having one SNP MP exposed for dodgy dealings wasn't bad enough, just a few days later, there's a second one.

Alert readers may remember the furore caused by highly offensive remarks of SNP MP Paul Monaghan when he said living in the UK under the Conservative government was akin to living in Hitler's Third Reich.

Not to mention being exposed as a cybernat, and posting comments online under a fake name, comments which are frankly too offensive to repeat here but involved slurs on the Royal Family and smear campaigns against opponents.

Well as it happens, he appears to have a rather sordid history himself...

He used to own/run a home for the elderly, which faced allegations of ill-treatment of residents and sexual harassment of staff in the mid 90's, and was ultimately shut down by social care services.

“At a private meeting of the registration panel, certain matters relating to the suitability of those running the home were discussed and the owners of Balmoral Lodge were notified of the decision to move to deregistration.

Another press report, published a year later, claimed the MP’s father, Bill, had his licence withdrawn and Monaghan had been “banned” from having “any day-to-day control” of the home

Given the above are a matter of public record and were reported in the press, the SNP vetting process now looks utterly incompetent, particularly given Monaghan was also suspended from his job with Highland Police before quitting prior to a disciplinary hearing.

There clearly is a vetting process because Craig Murray failed to pass it. It doesn't seem to work so well with cronies of Ms Sturgeon's husband though.

Of course the problem with standing on a ticket of not being venal and corrupt like the rest of them means that there is a terrible sense of disappointment among the electorate when they discover that you are just as venal and corrupt as the rest of them.

I call that for what it is, an artificial way of gerrymandering for three objectives

1. To maintain the illusion of greater austerity than there actually is, while blaming the lack of funds on Wicked Westminster and the lack of Magic Powers
2. To maintain an ability to preload any given financial year which might contain a Neverendum with additional funds to give the impression of fiscal security and responsibility
3. The maintenance of the SNP war chest from which to draw for their next White Paper and other misuses of Public money


It is surely realised by now by even the most witless of SNP supporters that to maintain the aspirations of a high welfare expenditure (I include the education budget in that), it would be necessary to increase taxes to pay for it. Yet the SNP dodge fiscal honesty and play their pathetic games with Scottish people's lives.

The higher than UK average Scottish funding is intended to mitigate shortfalls of funding in Scotland, not act as a misappropriated treasure chest for the SNP.

Yep that's the problem in a nutshell . SNP have marketed themselves as the righteous party, their superiority in being morally and socially just. With higher standards than any other party.

The party Scotland needs to fight for and protect the vulnerable from those b***urts in Westminster. A party with elected members of the highest standards and scruples. in whom we can place our trust.

Except they're not. And are hypocrites to boot.

The trademark SNP feeble excuse of 'But Labour did the same or worse' whataboutery just doesn't cut it anymore.

Sadly it seems not quite yet. Salmond must laugh his head off at what the SNP can get away with up here . The guy who pens the Ahdinnaeken blog summed it up in an article headed 'Scotland in danger from new strain of fact resistant humans' in May this year.
