Osborne near crippled it with his tax hikes a few years back.. And 'Scottish needs' ? The revenues go elsewhere. Why is UK government support for gas development a 'Scottish need' ?

Yep, local needs.
The oil and gas industry sustains a large number of high quality jobs. I'm sure Hamish knows just how important this is to the local economy in that part of the world.
Osborne did the right thing in the budget earlier this year, or would you have rather he did nothing?
Not everything has a hidden political agenda. Sometimes even Tories do things for what they believe are the right reasons.0 -

You should probably look up a few things, and make your own mind up. See both sides of the argument and take it from there. The problem with this sort of thing is that it's so one-sided when it comes to reportage. You'll rarely 'see' any evidence unless you really look for it. And the places you tend to find the other side of the coin... are places that are generally instantly dismissed as 'loony tunes' for going against the grain of what's on the front pages.
I'm not really sure what else I can say.
The best answer anyone has offered is that it would minimize change. IMHO the needs of iScotland would eventually diverge from the needs of rUK. One thing the current problems of the Eurozone shows is that currency union without fiscal union cannot work because governments have different policies- ultimately economies always diverge.
If as you seem to be suggesting the benefits of a currency union outweigh the costs for rUK really are that obvious then post a link.God save the King!
I'll save Winston Churchill, Jane Austen, J. M. W. Turner and Alan Turing.0 -
As no one has given an objective reason why a currency union between iScotland and rUK would be so great for both sides can someone answer this: if currency union really is so great why should iScotland not join the Euro?God save the King!

Why not indeed.
The vision the SNP have for Scotland is so muddled. Westminster is such a brake on Scottish aspirations that they keep the pound, Europe is a good idea yet they reject the currency. As we say in England, it's as if they don't whether their backsides are bored or punched!“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -
You must mix in more polite circles than me Generali. 😀
Living in Australia I sincerely doubt it!!!It might be a Cornish thing.
Probably. The last indigenous Briton I met that I truly struggled to understand was Cornish. That was in Paul, where the last Cornish monoglot was (supposedly) buried.0 -

Yep, I have relatives that even with my attuned ear I struggle to understand sometimes.
I had to google old Dolly of Paul, not surprised though as those fisher types down West can be a tad backward.😀“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0
