And independent Scotland would've been in the same boat as an independent England when the bank's went bust Clapton ie exactly the same as now. Calling them 'scottish banks' just muddies the waters over logos which happen to be on the letterhead.

Of course, but they may have very different priorities, aims, targets and policies. For example, they may wish to concentrate investment in the renewables sector more than a Conservative ( all that green crap ) one would. And not everyone agrees with austerity policies, and in fact there are a fair few experts think that they make things much worse. It seems the Scottish electorate agreed more with anti-austerity policies this time round.

Westminster spending on the NHS will get progressively less the more privatisation that takes place. Because if it doesn't, then privatisation has failed. Unless of course, it's only being privatised to benefit investors and spending continues going up as it is ?

They're definitely not keen on deals with the Tories that's for sure. And I have doubts there will be anything on offer that doesn't mean the Tories still raking in cash from it. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/politics/election-2015-watch-alex-salmond-5660060

I don't object to one. And I don't think the UK will vote to leave anyway. rUK is about to get a super big taster of what the run up to the Scottish referendum was like for Scots.. with endless tales of doom, job losses. IFS/ONS reports and businesses threatening to leave the country in droves if the UK votes Yes to leave the EU. It'll be strange watching it all again.

With respect to the banks, Scotland wouldn't be in exactly the same situation as the UK is now: it would be more like Ireland or Iceland.
The reason being that the economy of the UK is about 10 times that of Scotland so the 'austerity ' required would be 10 time worse in Scotland
Presumably, you think that uncle Alex was lying to the Scottish people when he praised the Scottish bank of RBS : he really meant to say how fantastic the English bank of RBS was?
In what other ways did he confuse England with Scotland?

Maybe Scotland is different but in England we have an aging population which will put increasing pressure on the English NHS.
The government is committed to increasing spending on the NHS and the service stays free at the point of use.
Anyone of any sense, would support greater efficiency in the delivery of better health services over socialist dogma.
Do tell me which specific 'privatisations' you are concerned about or is it simply another mistake by uncle Alex?

But that doesn't answer the question why has the English NHS increased spending more than the SNP health service over the last 5 years ... check out the facts before answering.

He's been the only Tory MP for the last 10 years in Scotland. By all accounts he's been a very good local MP. However, he's kind of regarded as a bit of an ineffective joke figure..

Presumably also the same opinion is held of those who voted for him and the other 15% of the electorate who voted for the tories.

Do they have international news in Scotland? It is only about every day that we see how well things are going in Greece since they voted against austerity.
    I think....

Because that is austerity in the truest sense. Don't compare Greece with the UK. Worlds apart.

No the point of the motion would be to halt all the Kevin the Teenager cries of 'it's so unfair, how come the Scots get free prescriptions/tuition fee's etc. You've been one of the worst going on about them ! Well, lets see some parity with the Scots then.. :p

ps it's not a serious proposal.

What a shame it wasn't a serious proposal as it would provide an absolutely wonderful opportunity for every English MP to say how their area received a lower grant than the greedy Scottish.

You really have abandoned any pretense to believing in 'fairness' or 'reducing inequality'.

And you haven't explained why you are so committed to transferring money from the Scottish poor to the Scottish rich.
Is it because all the Scottish are rich and you have no poor: I guess a result of all that English money.

    The NHS is devolved. ;)

I'd still charge. My majority. My rules ;)

David Mundell, is kind of treated as a bit of an irrelevance in Scottish politics. That's they way it is. He was extremely lucky to hang onto his seat this time round, only about 700 votes in it. But like I said, seems to be well liked by his constituents and a good MP.

I'm beginning to think we don't have news in this country either. There's an anti-austerity protest going on right now in front of Downing St.. It doesn't seem to be reported anywhere. Yet there are 1000's following it on livestream apps all over Twitter.

Strange days... it's the 1980's all over again ( oh and Jim Murphy getting a few heckles kind of pales in comparison )..

It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

so you are too stupid to work it out all by yourself?

matters of substance are more important.

Funny you call me the stupid one when you're the one making schoolboy errors with basic language.

Defacing statutes in memory of those who lost their lives for this country. Sums up the mentality of those involved. Stoking the fire may simply rebound big time.

Indeed so, my education was at a secondary modern in a run down inner city slum.

However I did learn the importance of meaning and substance over form and irrelevance.

I can also distinguish between 'ignorance' and 'stupidity'.

What is your point exactly ?
