The current plan of the SNP seems to be to find another means of gaining independence beyond the democratic process. I suspect that they would do a neverendum if they thought they could get away with it.

However, as the SNP aren't stupid they realise that if the referendum couldn't be won with the backdrop as it was it will probably never be won hence the need to find an extra-democratic way to do it.

If its the SNP that are finding other means ... I need to ask ... Are the SNP in control of Labour? Did they force Gordon and Murphy to come out with their latest pile of rubbish ? They really must have some power...

The only thing I currently hear from the SNP is them wanting the home rule/ devo Max that was promised to the people of Scotland if they voted no.... Ultimatley what they want is what they feel is the best for Scotland .... They have never said anything other than that

And I certainly ain't no SNP fan

    Sure. I'll explain.

It's because Scotland is part of the United Kingdom. The people who happen to be resident there now have no more right to claim it for their exclusive use than the people of Tower Hamlets do to annex Stepney Green and declare it part of the Soverign nation of Bangladesh. I'm not suggesting they want to.

Do you know who else doesn't want to annexe the place they live? The people of Scotland! They were asked in a proper

    And everything and said no.

You see Leanne, it's not who can raise the most flag waving nationalist numpties in a 100 mile radius that is always right, or who always gets to have things all their own way just because they make the most noise.

Phew. That was complicated to explain. I hope I made it simple enough so even the Scottish Nationalists could understand it. I have a feeling that they will be struggling for a long time to come though.

That suggests that you do not believe Scotland to be a country .... Your kinda indicating that Poland is really USSR and should never have been given independence from them

Mr Salmond has been quoted in the Scottish and British media as saying that independence can happen by means other than a referendum.

He most certainly did ... And then he shut up ... I reckon he got into trouble for it ... Christina Grahame did the same and she is looking very unhappy just now as well .... There are a lot of people in Scotland that want UDI ... The SNP are trying to reign them in, they don't always succeed, I kinda sympathise with the SNP sometimes ... They really are caught between a rock and a hard place

So it was once in a Generation as long as the right lot won.

And you complain about Westminster MPs being disingenuous!

Tbh I think it would have been once in a generation if last year didn't pan out the way it did.... No one expected what happened here last year, it was truly a unique experience for many many people.... I think that took the once in a generation idea off the table ... What was your experience of what was going on ?

I ask as when I talk to friendsthat live down south they had no way of knowing ... No idea that it literally consumed huge swathes of the country

I think you will find its gonna happen whether you and I want it or not .... Its not going away up here were nearly 5 months post ref and part two is being plotted and planned in so many ways ... I'm not involved as I don't care ... But its fun watching :)

We will see ... There are still meetings going on here that are very well attended ... The people that want independence are not giving up ...but they are gaining in numbers of activists .... Talks are happening

It may get to the stage that the rest of the UK kick us out as were a thorn in their side ... Its a brilliant time to be interested in politics up here

Yep as I say I can sympathise with the SNP ... They need to realise its not just WM's feet that are to the fire ... Its theirs as well ... The people will only take so much ...there has already been fall out due to their lack of stance ( until recently) on fracking for example ...

But I will also say this ... The SNP are not really the ones pushing for Indy ... Ric, Wfi etc are the ones to watch there ...

Wfi just ran a successfull campaign to stop the building of a new women's prison ... Labour jumped all over it and said it was them ...

It is fun though when I go into a shop ( for example) and I come across several conversations regarding the economy the defence and what direction our country should take ... This happens several times every week ( not always at the shops)

It's great finally to have something in common to talk to about with people

A quick example of how it is not going away ... I clicked off from here and clicked onto a group I admin, I had a join request, nothing much in that but I do get approx 6-10 a week, its not an Indy group its a common weal group ... But there are many people still keeping active ... The common weal now have common space places ... Yes hubs are having multi purpose uses ... The one I campaigned out of is a yeshub,SNP hub, wfi hub common weal hub ,anti fracking hub , food bank hub, green hub, family hub ... We tend to have to book it as in advance as we can... Its open night times day time and weekends ...all groups report increase in membership numbers ... So much so they have had to take on the shop next door ... This is all post ref not pre ref

Oh I don't agree with all the common weal policies myself .... But they are a means to an end for many .... You have to remember as well the SNP used to be more right winged they have veered towards the left recently, I think that's a reflection on where Scotland stands just now, personally I find were too left just now but I imagine eventually it will swing more centre politics.

You would however be very surprised at how many follow the common weal, they are not as yet a political party just a policy think tank... But I can see that changing ... There are several wfi standing under an SNP banner just now, possibly some CW as well although I am unsure at present

I would say it doesn't have much in common with the average non Scottish voter, but you have to remember this is Scotland ... Home of labour and labour values so they are popular just now ( unlike labour)
