Hi, could someone please advise as to what would constitute an 'adverse' record on your credit report?
Would this be something like a default?
Would this be something like a default?

Depends who is saying it. It could be anything that breached the t&cs - defaults, CCJs, missed payments, over limits, fraud, etc.
Or it could be a lender's view of your behaviour - taking out cash advances, use od pay day loans, etc.0 -

I am looking to rent a property shortly and have just seen the form that is produced by call credit for the prospective landlord and wondered what would would appear under "Number of adverse records" I didn't think they could report defaults only CCJ's and bankruptcies. I have two defaults on my call credit report but not Experian so never know which one to believe!0 -
Edit - I know I have the defaults, just don't know if they should still be showing!0

What company are doing the check and do you have a link to this form?
A tenant checking service should not have access to default data, or even data derived from credit account information held by the CRAs, no matter what form it is present in.
Adverse entries should be refering only to public record data, not credit account data like defaults.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Here is the link - It mentions CallCredit on the form. Just wondered how much info they would be allowed to find out and would having 2 defaults put me in the high risk category for renting (Default dates were from 2009)0 -
No. They cannot access any data relating to defaults or any score that is derived from such data.
Tenant check services to their best in their advertising to fudge around that fact and make tenant and landords think they are getting a more comprehensive credit assessment than they are, but the rules on sharing credit account data are strict, and tenant referencing agencies or services cannot access credit account data which defaults fall under.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

So all they will be able to check for is IVA's, CCJ's and bankruptcy? None of which I have by the way.
I have fallen in love with this house and would hate to lose out because of my stupid younger years!0 -

This is correct. Defaults and your repayment history are not public information.Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.
