    Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi All
    Popping in to try and get back into the cheerful zone. I don't know if it's lack of sleep the last few nights, have that back to school/work etc insomnia thing going on, or the fact that everything is changing again but I feel very off kilter.
    I spent the morning at work, it was totally dead. The only company I had was a poor mentally unwell chap who is utterly sweet but constantly asks the same questions as he can't seem to remember he's already asked you. I have one or two issues going on that aren't earth shattering but today feel like they are insurmountable.
    anyway sorry to be a downer. In amongst all that I have just found a penny, topped up my card for today and tommorow to try and bag a NSD. Have dinner planned. Found out today that due to the way my life insurance policy has been rearranged I won't have to pay my premium on 1st Feb so that is around £100 to put towards something next month. Put the 2 laptops out in the porch to be collected by music magpie so that's more clutter leaving. Checked banking. Won't be washing or drying clothing today which is the 3rd day in a row I've managed not to. Hopefully that will help starve the energy bill down a bit.
    Ah anyway. Hopefully my walk now will perk me up. Think just too much time on my own today.

    Newstartstartshere - Welcome! We love new people on here. We're a nice crowd too, although I go off on one now & again! You know all of those little itty bitty money things no-one else wants to hear about? Well, we love them on here, so do feel free to visit & share your small money saving daily things. I've been posting awhile now & have picked up lots of ideas from this thread, as well as motivation if I've been starting to feel a bit spendy.

  • Today I threw out all my old uni notes (only 10 years after I last looked at them), so cleared a huge space in my office/bedroom so I can work better when I am in there.

    Also relisted a ski jacket on eb*y (although I think I have missed the best selling opportunity time). I am going to list a few more items today on ebay as BIN. Its all good name brand stuff but I get so bored of the hassle selling items online.

    Used up food in freezer for lunch and will do the same for dinner as other half is out so I can eat a weird combination of food.

    Evening all!

    Didn't complete my list yesterday as had to pop prescription in the doctors (should have been on my list yesterday!) and then popped into see my parents.

    Today I have/will:
    * checked banks
    * lunch from stores
    * dinner will be bolognaise that I got out yesterday thinking it was cottage pie - should pay more attention!
    * changed duvet
    * go to Zumba
    * used free naked bar voucher which scanned at 75p but it only cost 50p so got 25p off my water (needed a new bottle to take to Zumba as I lost mine)

    Think that's everything as don't have much time this evening!
    Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
    Current debt - £5,435.00
    Total paid off - £10,165.89 (65% paid off)
  • Hi all,

    Today's little things:

    Tea from stores - fish, homemade mash & homegrown beans from freezer.
    Pudding from stores - homemade crumble using homegrown plums from freezer with custard.
    Transferred my current acc to Halifax - should get £40 cashback from quidco, £100 cashback from halifax & £5 per month as long as I cycle some money through the account.
    Mum in law gave us a 4pt of milk in return for one borrowed.
    Bought two huge sacks of kindling for the fire for 50p each, a bargain only to be had once every few weeks when someone in the village puts them at the bottom of his garden.
    Got items out of the freezer for tomorrow's tea.
    Tweaking my long term financial goals.
    Decided to consolidate some of my savings and just keep track on a spreadsheet so it can all earn 4% by going into a regular saver rather than half getting 4% and the other half getting. 0.5%.
    Boughten dozen of the most delicious free range eggs from another garden, a bargain at £2.
    Remembered to use lids on pans when cooking veg.
    Had antenatal appointment but luckily at hospital that doesn't charge for parking.
    Received refund of £4.78 for substitutions I didn't want from Asda - will put this in emergency fund rather than back in food budget.

    IWAB x
    2024 - happy, healthy, quality over quantity, buy nothing new (and 2nd hand only if NEEDED), mindful spending, nurturing myself and family, living for now.

    Mortgage @ 31/12/23 £248k - too high, interest rate gone up - want this down asap!
    Debt @ 31/12/23 £16k - no interest - will clear over 5 years hopefully.
    Emergency savings £4k - been ransacked over last year - needs attention :-(
