Thurs 8 Jan 2015, what small DFW stuff will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending .

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important

    Morning all,

Hope everyone is well this jan morning.

Been up, put on DW and WM on cheap rate and have another load for each to go on full rate before I go to work. Joy of having DD home. Worth it though, revising to disney DVD was yesterdays smile!
Hope to have another NSD. Have planned a fun day out, not shopping, this weekend. I think I should do more of these days out, fresh air and fun.
    Today I need to
    tidy paperwork in work.
get back to decluttering, am on stop due to dd home.
    stew from freezer for tea.

    Morning campers!

    Busy day ahead today.

I did the washing last night so none today apart from a whites wash (dreaded school shirts!!!) later when they all back from school to make it more cost effective.
I've been meal planning all this week in the hope that we will be able to see just how far we can make our cupboards last and how little we spend when we don't need to go out for that 'ooh I need fresh basil' moment.
    B/L/D all from stores.
Dentist today for both me and the hub.... Might not be eating anything lol!
Job centre for the interview as well.
May make bread later to make our bread stock last longer.

    Have a happy day everyone!

    Morning all,

Thanks to Maria for starting the thread

I think I'm not flavour of the day with OH this morning but have yet to establish why! - am def not flavour of the day.

    Already done:
    • Check online banking (awful)
    • Cleaned and re-organised the fridge
    To do:
    • Charge phone in work - done
    • B/L/D from stores - done
    • Friend taking stuff to the tip today (yay!) - done
    • Going for lunch/coffee with friends from work but have brought lunch in, so coffee only. Will have a sweet coffee to prevent cake buying. Also will pay by contactless to get cashback. - done
    • Lots of steps hopefully to win challenge - done
    • Check flylady stuff. Might actually sort out the dining room table instead as it's a tip atm - cleaned washing machine drawer
    • Put a wash on (not mse but will remind me to do it) - done
    • Dry January day 4. Not as chipper today but very tired as OH wanted to chat to me (about nothing) until about 11.30 last night. Also feel put out by odd conversation with him this morning. No weight loss yet, but noticed though that my ankles are less puffy :)
That's me at the moment, might add more later.

    Have a good one all

    Hi Thursday People,
    Today's frugal efforts:
*Saved a bit of energy bill by drying the last of this week's laundry overnight when heated airer runs for half price, switching iron off for the last garment & letting my hair get almost dry naturally before taming it with the appliances!
*Made bread dough for pizza & rolls. It's just proving (next to the heated towel rail in the bathroom!)
*Paid credit card bill in full. If you had told me 10 years ago that my January credit card bill could EVER be £12-43, I'd have howled in your face with derisive laughter. But it was! Buying gifts through the year, making lots of gifts & more importantly, being realistic about what is a sensible amount to spend has made a big difference.
*Leftover watercress soup I made yesterday for my lunch today & enough leftover chicken stew from last night to do mr f's pack-up for tomorrow.
*Feel very positive to be back on the diet plan. I need to get the Christmas podge off, then work hard at losing my last stone & a half. It seems ridiculous that I can lose so much weight then stick at this quite modest amount, but it gets harder to lose once you've dieted for a long time & start to hit a funny age. Never mind, feeling motivated.
*Free fitness as did exercise DVD straight after breakfast.
*Still to do - surveys & enter a competition plus knit more of this tricky mitten. If I'm going to think seriously about a designing a little Christmas range of stuff to sell this year, I need to clear the decks of existing projects this month & next to free up plenty of time to get some stock together.
OK, that's all the money saving bits of my list. Have a good day all.
