Nope as above they wont cover it, For £20 they will just tow him to a near by garage and then its his responsibility to do what he want either repair it or sell it for spares

He may be getting confused with warranty cover which you have to buy separate from another company

see what the aa say about the car it could be something minor hopefully
People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society. We want the biggest house, fanciest car, and we don't mind paying the sky high mortgage to put up that show. Thanks very much I have told him so many times it won't cover it so has my dad who worked as a mechanic but it has lead to an argument (silly thing to argue over I know) but he really thinks it's gonna get towed to a garage get fixed n the AA pay EVERYTHING.obv I love him to bits n don't want him to be disappointed when this doesn't happen but he won't have it so let him be am sure he's gonna find out shortly.Hopefully something minor but I don't think it is but you never know.

Thanks, I pointed this out earlier, about £20 a month including full breakdown cover sounds about right.

Although if he does claim I'm pretty sure he'll have to pay for the whole 12 months which comes to £240 all in, add that to the £35 excess and that's not a great saving when you consider the max he can claim is £500.

    yes but that's a max of 5 x £500 per year.
So if its £300 for the 1st bill. He loses nothing on the deal and has a further 12 months cover.
A gamble but it could work out

AA membership (like any other insurance) doesn't cover pre-existing problems. If your BF tries to pretend it's a new problem, that's fraud.

Leave him and find someone sensible!

I could kill him YA right it's fraud!!! He's been talked into doing it by a family member but am quite sure he does have a mind of his own it's been off the road n not started for almost 2 months so I think the aa will pick up on that xxxx

It has to be serviced in line with the manufacturers recommendations if not they will get out of paying for the repairs

From the headline bullet points about the AA breakdown cover it might lead a person of, shall we say, an optimistic dispostion, to think that they might get their dud car repaired but in the small print they have endless ways of not paying out. Usually they say the damage was down to wear and tear, it was pre-existing, you don't have proof of service history as per manufacturers schedule at a VAT registered garage etc. Just google AA breakdown cover (or whatever it is called) and you'll probably be able to find loads of disappointed people.

There is a 1 in a 100 shot he might get away with it but more than likely he has paid for breakdown cover which in practice turns out to be a waste of money.
