Advice about AA breakdown

hi I am new to this site only just joined and am hoping someone would kindly give me some advice.my partners car broke down a few months ago,think it's the engine n the electrics that is the problem.he decided after it broke down to join the AA for £20 per month.He is now just waiting for his membership to come through the post and is then going to ring the AA and say he has broken down and he says the AA will tow it to the local garage and it won't cost him a penny,he says the AA will pay all the work the garage do.i have told him I don't think that is likely at all but he says it will.I know this may seem a strange thread but would like any advice etc.many thanks xx

They will tow it to the garage assuming they believe it is a genuine breakdown, but they won't pay for any repairs; that is just fantasy land.

Thanks so much! I have tried to tell him this but he is adamant that they will!!! I mean cmon if that was the case no one in England wud ever have a broken car lol x

AA do repair insurance now.

Parts & garage cover
Help with parts and garage bills after a breakdown. Covers up to 5 claims a year, each up to £500 with a £35 excess. Wear and tear won't be covered.

Doesn't cover pre-existing problems, hence if they think the car has been sitting for months before the cover started they will reject it. Also if it's an old car then most things will come under wear and tear.

Thanks very much I think he's living in cuckoo land! The work is gonna cost hundreds of pounds n he thinks cos he joined n paid 20 pound a few weeks ago they will tow it n pay the garage for all the parts n labour.
Surely if the AA did this then everyone would do it and no one would have a knackered car lol x x

You might be lucky and the AA fix it on the road side. I take it the car is still taxed and insured?

Yeah it's taxed n insured but I didn't think they would do it at the road side coz I believe it's quite a big job to do but we shall see ave told him they will only tow it but he argues me blind they also pay for all the work n labour the garage carry out lol x

I think to claim you will also have to provide proof of a service history as well.
