This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Good morning everyone.
Not going to work today, been awake most of the night coughing. Will be heading back under my duvet.
Because of this it will be a NSD!
Hope others are better.0 -
Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Still dark, but looks cold and frosty.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 up and getting ready for work.
Dinner last night was fish, chips and beans/veg for the menfolk, I had fishcake, jacket potato and veg. Fresh pasta and sauce tonight as hairdresser is coming over to cut everyones’ hair.
Work yesterday was slightly less busy but still busy – I’m doing the busiest job today – so that will keep me occupied! Only working until lunchtime though, so then I need to come home and crack on with the jobs, as the new modem arrived yesterday for the wifi so we’ll be trying to organise that later, so I may be offline awhile if it doesn’t all go to plan!
DH’s payout from his savings plan has hit the bank account today, so have moved money about already, didn’t want it to get swallowed up left where it was and the a/c I’ve moved it to is one that we don’t use it for everyday purchases it’s more used for sending payments by cheque and other spends, so much less activity within the a/c and easier to keep an eye on the balance etc.
Take care x
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Gers, feel better soon. It's too wild here to be driving all that way anyway, bet it's worse where you are.
Judi - Loving your Mum's slippers, I have some similar and they are so cosy.
Mrs LW - How did Zebra get on at nursery?
I was woken by the wind outside this morning but had a decent enough nights sleep. Still have a painful throat and feel very tired and yuk but not bad enough to stay off work, think I will share my germs with everyone!
Got a cheque from the premium bonds for £500 yesterday so I am a happy bunny, that will be tucked away in my savings stash!
Really need to write my thank you letters from Christmas, I have been a little lazy, hope to do them tonight.
Last night we had salmon and stir fry veg, ages since we had fish and really enjoyed it.
Onwards! Take care. XX0 -
Morning all,
Very cold here this morning we are meant for another really cold spell I think, my work mate has just texted telling me she is sick, luckily I have DD here who can cover her (dd works at the same place at the weekends)
Will have some kind of pasta dish for dinner tonight I have some sliced pepperoni type meat to use and some mushrooms so will make something with them.
Need to do a wash tonight and get it on the airer. Shopping was delivered last night so back to normal food wise now.
Have good days all and keep warm !0 -
Good Morning all x
Get well soon Gers
Just me up at the mo as DD has vanished to her room and DH is yet to stir. He was up a lot last night with a cough so not expecting him up yet, but he wont not go to work . Drives me mad that even when he is really ill he wont take time off to recover when everyone else is off sick with a sniffle.
back to WW tonight to see just how much i put on over the xmas period. Not gonna dwell on it as i had a good time and wont regret it at all. Start again tomorrow x
Anyhoo better go shake those still in their pits.
Hugs to all that need them xBright Blessings xx0 -
Morning all, another miserable day here by the look of it. When it gets light it might look a bit better!
Hope you soon get rid of your cough Gers. Non-stop coughing is so draining.
I don't know where yesterday went, it was teatime before I knew it! It didn't help that I was two and a half hours on the phone with DD in the morning and she only lives half a mile down the hill!! She was only ringing to see if I wanted some blocks of Stilton she didn't want! She later called in with the said blocks and my job this afternoon is making celery & stilton and broccoli & stilton soup to freeze.
Got in at the hairdressers this morning, she said she's very quiet at moment. That was good news as I am out with some friends tonight for a carvery, a few wines and a good old natter. I should pass on the eating bit I have put so much weight on over Xmas but, what the heck, I can't sit and watch them eat can I!!
Lucky you Camelot! I have had some bonds at least 25 years and have never won a penny on them!
Have a good day everybody and take care."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone
Sorry to hear of your cold Gers, an amazing win camelot.
Porridge too longer to cook this morning, probably all that frozen fruit.
Half way through the week and we have an inspirational women talk today at work, looking forward to that.
If anyone wants the wonder bag the eco slow cooker, see yesterdays, thread, please PM me otherwise, I will put a separate thread up in the main OS forum later today. I would like it to go to good use.
Happy Birthday to anyone celebrating today and I wish the rest of you a very blessed day.

Good morning everyone
It's wet and windy here this morning so I will be heading back to bed once the girls have left for school. I had another rubbish nights sleep so will need to catch up. Poor hubby had the brunt of it yesterday when I cried all over him when he came back from work purely through being over tired. I refuse to take meds for it though as I'm already rattling with my other tablets, plus I had them in the past and became very reliant on them to the point I couldn't sleep at all without them.
It's my mum in law's birthday today so I asked hubby to buy her a card from us. He came back with the most inappropriate 'funny' card you can imagine :eek:. I had to send it with an apology, she has a very good sense of humour though so she will take it well. At least the card my DD's sent was lovely.
My eldest DD is coming over for a cuppa and catch up in a little while so I will be having a quick tidy round before she gets here. I still have lots of cake left suprisingly so I don't need to bake just yet. I am going to make spaggy bol for tea and remembered to get the mince out in time. The diet is going well, poor hubby and my stomachs were rumbling last night but we didn't succumb to the lure of the bread bin. It's my first weigh-in of the year tomorrow so I hope I've lost a pound or two.
Well, that's all from me today, hope you all have a fab day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning :hello:

I woke up the other day feeling a bit achy and sniffly, I thought it was the beginning of a cold. A few hours later I was aching from the middle of my back to my knees, like I'd ridden a bike in the wrong gear for hours
The sniffles had gone but the achiness lasted a couple of days and is just disappearing now. I have no idea what that was about

Cassie Chick died yesterday  She was very weak when I let the girls out first thing so I brought her in the house to feed her some protein – scrambled egg and tuna – but she wasn't interested and died half an hour later
I've designed a stocking, there are plenty of patterns online but I didn't like the shape of the heel on any of them so I crocheted, ripped out and re-crocheted white yarn until I was happy with it (and the yarn split, lol).
I'm staying in for the next couple of days, I'm waiting for a printer and some yarn to be delivered and I don't want to miss them. So I'll just be pottering about today.

Morning all,
GERS - Hope your feeling better soon
TRU - sorry to hear about Cassie x
I,ve got to do some paperwork at home this morning, and empty out and sort freezer part of fridge freezer.
We,re getting a new kitchen beginning of Feb and DH wants to set up a temporary kitchen in dining room this weekend - I think its too soon, but I have been told ther,s alot of prep to do, so basically 'get on with it'..........
I will need to buy eggs today, trying to empty cupboards due to above so will only take a couple of quid to the shops.
Have a fab day all, and batten down the hatches if these storms effect you xNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!
