BT repair

Got no phone or broadband service just now though BT are onto it. Seems it's been designated MBORC even though just three properties affected.
The engineer rang me, on mobile, to say that the phone is now working though still showing a fault but the broadband is not yet fixed.
Can someone tells this techie numpty how this is possible? Not at home until Thursday. My phone is now ringing and the mobile divert removed.
Thanks

Look at it in very very simple terms as phone travels at a different frequency to broadband .Broadband may require a higher quality of line than the phone .
Broadband also connects at the exchange via equipment that eventually connects to servers that are linked worldwide and known as the internet .0 -

Many thanks. That makes perfect sense. And now it's all fixed.0
