****wanders off singing that old country song with the refrain about don't fence me in - anyone know the title/ artist?*****
Errr mmmmmm....it's called Don't Fence Me in :rotfl:
Various artists, in fact easier to list who hasn't sung it
Now I've got it going round me head...:(

Is anyone else resentful of things coming into their homes? Am really not liking things that the postman brings that I have to keep, lol. No big push this week as other things have had to take priority, but small quantities of paper still leaving as and when I can look over them.
Hoping to go through some books this weekend as well as continuing to plod on through the piles of paper etc which are slowly shrinking.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅0 -
Well I am currently reading the book (and the thread - by 'eckersly you lot are chatty!), sorted my t-shirts and flimsy polo neck (sleeveless) tops out, half way through the joggers/yoga pants - does anyone have any idea how best to fold the latter? (oh and the knickers will be done this weekend - I have been through the bras and have 3 left
)

Knit Witch - my joggers and cycling keks are still a work in progress, they are bulky that they are really awkward to do, but I sort of made a rectangle and then attempted to roll them, they do stay tidy even though they are not super folded iyswim.
Today I have Kondoed 4 butterfly orchid plants to a friend (she really did want them:rotfl:) and some scented tea lights (to try and eliminate the smell of the left over curry that I ate for my lunch:eek:The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -

Yesss!!!!!!!!!!
It's a good day if I can head something off at the pass and I get a positive relish from finishing a library book and taking it back.
Re joggers, yoga pants, what I do with mine is smooth them on the ironing board with my hands (not actually ironing them), one leg on top of the other, fold in half and half again and that makes a package which will stand upright in the size of drawer I have. I guess you could also roll them up.
Have donated 4 of my longlife lightbulb cache to the parental home, as they'd mentioned they were out of the 100w equivalents. There was a phase a few years ago when I got these things randomly mailed to me in batches of 4, and once they'd said, I checked the cache in the shoebox and realised that I don't use the more powerful ones as the 60 w equivalent is more than sufficient for my small rooms, so that's some stuff off the premises.
Well, the donation bag is at the chazzer and several more items are in the recycling bin, my folks don't produce much rubbish-rubbish but do fill the recycling wheelie every fortnight. I shall aim to find some more random bits of paper, a lot of them are included in the daily or Sunday newspapers and clutter up the place if you're not strict about rounding them up.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Thanks MM and GQ, I sort of rectangled them and folded them 3 or 4 times - which seems to work okay, and even with what I have done so far it looks as though I may end up with a free drawer , which means I can EITHER use it for jeans OR use it for my next days clothes *wanders off pondering*Must use my stash up!0

:rotfl:I read 4,000 posts on MumsNet's kondo threads over Christmas, before my book arrived. (They are into the 8th thousand now!) Like here, lots of brilliant tips and advice.
Well done, with your kondoing Knit Witch!
I interrogate everything that tries to get into my house! Been doing that for the last 5 years, but I'm even more ruthless since MK, from Christmas! My paper-recycling bag is by the front door, so no junk gets beyond the mat.
Yesterday, I discovered that I've kondoed 1.5 stones since Christmas. Proof that you don't have to engage in 'proper' exercise when eating low-carb - must be the de-cluttering! :dance:Needs, NOT wants!
No food waste since November 2010. :j

I usually find mine in the compost bin...................:D In fact its happened so many times, its now my 'go to place' when I start the search:pBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Hi Everyone,
Just spent the past week reading this entire thread! Phew!
Contrary to my user name, my house is full to bursting with clutter.
When I joined MSE it was to post on a thread to rid our homes of clutter, hence my user name. Almost 8 years later, I am still not free of clutter.
I've not got the Marie Kondo book but I am tempted to buy it.
About a year ago I watched a YouTube video on folding tops and undies the Kondo way. I did everyone's drawers and hubby told me it'd be a fad and I'd never keep it up.
He was wrong! A year on I still use the folding technique and store vertically in colour order so I am proof that the system works long term.
Although I have done the folding technique for a year, I have not done the discarding, so that is now my mission.
Years ago I watched Anthea Turner's Perfect Housewife. I always remember her going to a reasonably tidy home and saying to the lady "but you don't have a problem, everything seems in order". The lady then opened her cupboards and everything was crammed in there out of sight! Anthea nicknamed her Cathy Cupboards! I can totally relate to that, but now I have so much stuff it is spilling over into cardboard boxes.
It is starting to get me down - enough is enough!
I am a hoarder and I need to stop.
Look forward to sharing with you and finally becoming clutter free in both name and nature!
xxAgeing is a privilege not everyone gets.
