And the order has probably NOT been sent to the factory yet, and work on ordering materials almost certainly has not started. So their costs will be minimal ... anything more than £100 and I'd be telling them to justify in a detailed invoice how they've arrived at the value, otherwise they're getting nothing and "see you in court".

    Hi J3251,

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing difficulties with your order.

I can see that you have spoken with a colleague of mine and she has tried to call you back.

She will be contacting you again shortly with a view to getting this resolved for you if possible.

If there is anything else we can do to help please let us know.

    Kind regards

    Hi

I'd received a call from DFS advising if a letter confirming redundancy was forwarded order would be cancelled! Sent letter accordingly DISSAPOINTED to find I'm no further for it?

Rang DFS to be advised DFS were unable to cancel sofa with manufacturer, there looking to relocate it?

I still don't get what this means?assuming they are trying to find another customer for the order?

    Hi there,

I can confirm that we were unable to accept the letter of redundancy as it is hand written & not on any company headed paperwork, as such we are unable to confirm authenticity.

The store are continuing to reallocate the order, this essentially means that they are trying to find another customer looking to order the same piece of furniture.

    Kind regards

I thought the person who had been made redundant was the OP's friend not the person who took out the DFS contract.

I would suspect that if the OP provided a redundancy letter for this random person the cancellation wouldn't be accepted as its not the OP who has been made redundant....

On a completely unrelated subject DFS rep, why can't I order the "Dazzle" sofa online. I can order most sofa's online but that one is phone only?

Apologies on my end,my head was bursting with the stress, what id meant to type was i was being made redundant, sofa was for a friend who had advised they no longer wanted it.

What a carry on I've had to date,DFS had advised if i sent a letter confirming im being made redundant the order would be cancelled.
Now DFS are saying they are unable to cancel the order with the manufacturer!DFS have then went on to saying that the order shall arrive 1 MONTH EARLY!
I asked the advisor how can the sofa arrive 1 month early? Are they sure there aren't a few of these sofas already built? Are they sure the sofas not anyone else's order? ie could this order have been cancelled??

Ive never been so stressed in all my days,1 thing for sure i shall never make the same mistake again by buying a sofa from DFS (just my opinion as i strongly feel DFS and the manager are simply at it!)

Hmmm your OP seems quite clear..

The sofa was for a friend who has just advised unfortunately he is being made redundant! Wont be able to afford payments, asked if i could cancel entire order

I think DFS are well within their rights to reject a hand written letter "confirming" redundancy that could have been written by absolutely anybody. That is no real proof whatsoever.

It makes perfect sense that it would need to come from the company your friend (or you?) worked for with evidence such as company stamp, headed paper for verification that what you're claiming is indeed a fact and not just a sob story.

If what you're saying is true a proper letter on headed paper won't be hard to get. Request from employer, send it off to DFS as requested and this should get things moving. Where's the issue? Unless of course you weren't banking on them wanting to see actual proof...

Sounds like you regret buying and thought you'd need a story to get it cancelled.

Regarding the hand written letter it was written by my employer, its only a small business therefore a hand written letter was wrote by my employer.

I spoke with the manager of DFS who advised the same regarding the hand written letter,i said if needs be i could provide a a printed letter from my employer, even bring him in person to the store to clarify this is the case.DFS manager fobbed it off was not interested in the least, went on to explaining DFS have been unable to cancel order with manufacturer ie makes no difference, how he would try to reallocate it.

So in a nut shell i have offered to provide a printed letter from my empoloyer, even offered to bring my employer into the store to confirm this is the case,DFS have chosen to go along with they have been unable to cancel the order with the manufacturer.

Ive found someone who is willing to take the sofa, advised DFS to continue with the delivery of the sofa.

As a overall i feel DFS have been extremely awkward with cancelling the order despite offering paper headed letter, employer willing to come to the store to confirm my redundancy etc

Yes i appreciate id accepted DFS terms and conditions however feel people should know the games DFS play to ensure a sofa order followed through.

Do not expect DFS to be sympathetic or for them to provide customer service.NEVER AGAIN shall i purchase a sofa from DFS nor shall i recommend them.
