I don't think someone with anxiety issues would cope very well with the selection process, with being responsible for so many passengers, or could cope with the training or the communication required.

    He said he's a recluse/antisocial, that doesn't mean he's got anxiety issues.

lots of people spend their lives doing this sort of work.
We can't all be in high-flying careers earning 200k, though I wish we all could! lol

Which puzzles me! These jobs are ok for the short term, but why don't people aim higher?
  • Some people do aim higher but they don't always make it higher, it's not always a case of the progression potential being there

I interact with lots of people which gradually pushes me out of my comfort zone, but because it's mostly done on the phone I don't find the interaction too much to cope with.

Just wanted to agree with this. I work in Events - I have to smile and deal with delegates all day, but it's not too bad because it's very shallow interaction. Smile, point out the bathrooms/ cloakrooms, that kind of thing.

Similar to when I worked in a supermarket. Working tills was great as you only interacted for 2 minutes with each person. No need to actually get to know people.

(Oh, and I have mild ASD. Pushing yourself is fine. It's about learning how to deal/ coping strategies.)
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

Exactly. Some of us aren't capable and are actually aware of that fact.
People often act like it's a God Given right to be intelligent and worthy of earning mega bucks.
Fact is, some of us are just not very clever. Me, for example!
It shouldn't be a surprise that this is the case; I hate how it's almost taboo to admit it!

People are make their own opportunities; there's always a chance of progression people just have to want it. Look at the number of hardworking immigrants who come from places like Poland etc, and then end up being successful.

Surely the immigrants who choose to leave the safety of "home" to progress their ambitions are the type to go grab any and all opportunities anyway though ?

A less confident or less ambitious personality wouldn't even consider moving abroad

Progression within the company I mean, jesus think about it, there are plenty of "dead end" jobs out there, which means there is no progression within the company

I am not saying that people cannot move on to progress, I was just saying that the is not progression within the company

But then limiting yourself to progression within a company is a false barrier :)

Example, look medical doctors. If they only waited for promotions within the hospital etc, they work in, then theoretically, they would be working a dead end job; hence why its normal for them and other professionals to move in order to take up better positions.

More people should take up the above attitude :)
