  • Thank you all for replies, but I want to buy phone from CEX, and phone is locked to EE. I use PAYG, and because of that I would prefer some of the smaller operators.

    CEX should be willing to let you try a SIM card in it, but going forward I'd suggest you try and get an unlocked version if you can. EE have been reported as needing you to use the phone on their network for at least 6 months and they will charge you £20.42 before releasing a code..

    If the unlocked one is less than £20 more it may save problems later on. Alternately there may be people who can unlock it in a local market or on Ebay for less too.
