Dont post often so not sure anyone can help. I have a Barclaycard and MBNA which I pay interest on both. I'm about to swap to get an interest free card but Barclaycard are doing the best deals. They are offering me an interest free balance transfer until June 2015 but for new customers for 24-36 months.
My question is - has anyone ever asked their current provider to put them on a new customer offer. I want to swap to their 24 month deal - I'd be happy to pay the fee, like any other customer, just want to get a zero interest deal.
Should I give it a try or just go elsewhere? Last time I transferred the balance off the Barclaycard and tried to close the account they gave me £50 to keep open with a zero balance so just hoping they might give me a new customer offer.

Unlikely but if you don't ask you don't get.
Think about it from their perspective: They are making money off you from your interest payments to them. By offering you an extended 0% deal they are going to cut into their own profit margins. Hardly makes business sense.
What kind of balances are you carrying on these cards and what is your debt-to-income ratio? Can't you try to BT both the MBNA and the Barclaycard balances to another card where you will be a new customer?
There are better deals than 24 months out there:

I spoke to Barclaycard in December to cancel my card and they offered me 12 months at 0% for purchases or a drop from my current APR to 6% for life.
I usually get 12 / 15 /18 months BT offers at 0% and 9 / 12 months money transfers at 0% from Barclaycard every month and in the past I have managed to get them to reduce the initial fee as low as 0.5% instead of say 3.5%. It all depends on how long you've had your account and managed it. They have also in the past matched a BT offer I had from Tesco at the time. Give them a call, it can't hurt to ask

A cut maybe but by retaining your custom they may make some money via merchant fees when (hopefully from their perspective) you purchase more with their card rather than losing your custom completely.0
