I find email replies from cos.are next to useless. Or explain in your letter premium rates are barred from your phone. If they refuse to give you a geo number give these people a miss.Do you really
want to do business with a co that charges 10p a min.

Easier said than done for some , but the only way these scammers will learn
is if people dont use their service .
I am refusing to use an 0871 contact number for a prepaid card.We are
slowly making some progress by letter. They sometimes give me a geo number.

    Hi Alan,

I agree these numbers are nasty and I'd love to not have to use any companies using them but in some cases there's no choice. Setanta have the Scottish football cornered and if we want to watch it we have to subscribe to them. I've not had a reply to the email so it looks like I'll need to phone the 0871 number one more time  At least once it's sorted I shouldn't need to talk to them for a year but it's a real annoyance and I really begrudge being forced into paying to speak to them. They'll be getting a rather long letter of complaint about the incompetance that made this all necessary in the first place.

    Regards

Try 020 7024 7099. They may answer "Racing UK", but they should still be able to help you as they share customer services and subscriptions facilities with Setanta. I think they may even be the same company.

Also, I believe the 0870 numbers still work - 0870 850 3030 or 0870 050 6980. These ones may answer "NASN", but again it's the same company. This will be a bit cheaper than 0871.

Thanks a lot satellitebadger - I'll give those a go  (And yes Racing UK is owned by Setanta - I've seen their number before but I didn't think they'd be able to put me through to the Setanta customer services but I guess it's worth a go if the other numbers don't work.)

    Hi

If I can just give a timely reminder. re 0870 weekends, be careful.

    See here from Heinz

But you may be able to use 020 numbers for both above 0870 numbers.
They are on www.saynoto0870.com database in the unverified section.

    0870 8503030 0207 3890771

    Setanta Sports Channel 0870 0506980 0207 9308926

    Hi Everyone,

Just to update - I tried the geographic numbers but it was no good. They gave me an O870 number to use, though, which was at least better than 0871 but still expensive as the phone call lasted about half an hour since they kept me on hold for so long  It still didn't get eveything sorted out either! You can see my update on the actual problem HERE. Anyway I just wanted to say thanks for the help.

    Regards

Just been caught on this 0871 scam by companies, in this case dialaphone, when you ring you get this automated answer that goes on for ages ,never talk to a human, gave up in the end and emailed them........Is there any regulatory body looking into this major injustice to the public??

sorry guys just seen martins post re 0871....................is there an update though?
