Moving from BT to Plusnet?

I am planning to move from BT to Plusnet
For my broadband and phone, my phone contract is up
On the 30th, I called them today and they said I need to give
30 days notice, is this correct as I read somewhere it's 14 days?
What's the best way to go about it? My head is swimming and I'm getting
Pretty stressed lol don't want to end up with no phone line and broadband! Plusnet would not 30 days to sort it surely?
Thanx in advance for any advice

30 days unless you can find the somewhere .
Its notice of termination of your contract .

Ask BT for a MAC code and present that to Plusnet .
Swap over is usually a couple of hours .
  • I recently signed up for a new plusnet contract and requested a switch over date of Friday 16th Jan 2015 (moving from fibre to fibre). I then received a text saying 'your broadband service is due to become active by midnight on 15th Jan 2015', which I took to mean the changeover would occur around midnight on that date.

On waking up today Tues 13th Jan, we found we had lost our BT service (fibre and phoneline). I called plusnet and was told that they had requested a switchover on the date I requested so the problem was with BT. I called BT was told that plusnet had requested a switch today, on Tues 13th and the problem was with plusnet. I rang plusnet back and was told actually they had requested a switchover today but for some reason the new plusnet service had not automatically activated where it normally would. She said she would do it manually and so service should start in about 30 mins.

I do now have phone/fibre working ok with plusnet but have also received a new text saying the transfer of service will occur on 27th Jan 2015 so now I'll probably ring them to make sure they're not going to cause any further problems.

So far, I'm not impressed with plusnet, we had no service most of today and I spent an hour calling them/BT from work. Problems - loss of service, poor communications, not very efficient customer service. Hope it get better from here.
