I know it was proposed as a EU regulation but not sure it got adopted into UK law yet.http://consumers.ofcom.org.uk/phone/mobile-phones/mobiles-abroad/check-your-phone-before-you-roam/
Suggests its not yet in force for Non EU countries. All mobile operators have to apply a cut-off limit once you have used €50 (excluding VAT) – around £40 – of data per month, wherever you travel in the world unless you choose another limit.0 -
Why is it on Ofcom's website then, that is a UK regulator, not EU?
Because the way the EU works is the EU parliament makes rulings and guidelines but the member countries have to enact it into law to be binding in each member state.
If any member country does not enact any particular guideline into law its not legal in that country. OFCOM has been known in the past to have wrong information on its site. What exactly suggests this? What I see is...0 -

BTW, as redux posted in another thread, many (most?) networks have adopted this regardless, e.g. by allowing data roaming only if a bundle is purchased.OFCOM has been known in the past to have wrong information on its site.0 -
The UK network has to wait for the charges from the local carrier and I don't know how long that takes to come through.
.
The important point is what does TalkMobile say on its website t&c? And the regulars on here will be well aware of lots of threads where the charges are ludicrous and well over £50.
See this MSE article http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-data-roaming.

IIRC the standard data limit is €50 even outside the EU.The UK network has to wait for the charges from the local carrier and I don't know how long that takes to come through.
This is inaccurate.
Data is routed via the home network (APN) - so the the UK network always has immediate access to data usage. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
In my (limited) experience BCW state "We were, at no time, advised by our client of any ongoing disputes or unresolved complaint issues" which is always a lie.
In my experience, BCW don't try and collect or take court action (your experience may vary). They might wait till the alleged debt is a 1 year+ old (it may be that BCW know the debt isn't genuine - using "BCW acts in good faith on the information and instructions issued to us by our clients").
