    Gambia or Cape Verde?
  • £500-600 Budget is very tight as the flight to say Tenerife would be £250-350 pp leaving very little for a decent hotel.
  • The weather is notoriously bad in Cyprus in January and February with so much rain and there is very little to do on a rainy day.
It's poured down constantly today ( and for the last few days)
Go for the Canaries in my opinion :-)

Think I would agree with Cubegame re Northern Cyprus. Have been there a couple of times, and it is not as commercialised as the south.
presently between 9 and 14 degrees during the day here and our wettest month

Due to drop to below freezing in my tiny Cyprus village later this week.

Since we've got builders in (ripping out a fireplace and replacing it with a wood burner) and therefore have no heating this is not something I'm delighted about.

*Looks longingly at UK posters with central heating*

When I was there last week I did wake up in the middle of the night once as the hotel room was so cold.

I'm in my Florida home on the Gulf Coast at the moment.
It's been a beautiful day with temperatures in the high 60s and this evening we're having a BBQ.
I love Cyprus but definitely not in the winter !
To the OP, if you want guaranteed sunshine in January you have to travel a long way and pay for it I'm afraid.

Responding here so as not to de-rail the other thread. Sorry, but not surprised to hear, that your weather was mixed. This time of year doesn't really show Cyprus at its best ... but if heat isn't your thing either then the height of summer isn't going to be appealing either :)

Meanwhile, I had snow today. The builders hadn't seen that before so took great delight in standing in the garden and getting snowed on.

L'Escala (a short stroll from this beach hotel) is wonderful; even in August it's a mainly Spanish resort; but won't necessarily be that hot in Jan/Feb as it's in North East Spain. http://www.holiday-weather.com/costa_brava/averages/
Still worth a go, however, especially if you're up for the Dali Museum in Figueres, or his Beach house, a couple of hours drive north, and it's close to the cheap Costa Brava airports of Barcelona or Girona
