Invoices (carbonless 2 part)

I need invoices printed in carbonless paper.
It must be 2 part so i can keep one and give one copy to customer.

I have been looking around on the net and found out
there are few print companies who does that..
like this http://www.andiprint.freeuk.com/ncr.html

or i can buy carbonless 2 part paper and print but
i dont get how it does work when you print out with a ink printer.
http://www.inmac.co.uk/catalogue/item/JJ513677

Anyone knows where i can get it done cheap? or how does it work?
Looking for A5 size one colour is enough.

I think you will find that very few carbonless invoices will work with laser or inkjet printers. You need something which hits the paper with enough impact to make an impression on the bottom sheet. Daisy wheel or dot matrix! I could be wrong: asking on the techie board would give a more knowledgable answer.

Alternative is to print two copies on normal paper or print and and photocopy.

Yes, I agree with what Savvy said. Why not just print two copies, far easier and no need to buy "special" paper.

I just pop in now and then.... :)

i cant do that..then both needs to fill with all same details..
then get the customer to sign twise.. which takes my time..

plus it looks more professional with carbosless..

Well I don't think there is any easy answer to this. My gut feeling is that very few small companies PRINT to carbonless paper these days. It's only the big ones who can afford to run the specialist printers required - I bet you would find the printer jamming regularly, plus with some printers I've had huge problems working out how to print onto A5. I do still get hand-written invoices: if they are overprinted with company's name and address they are fine by me.

Does the customer sign at your site or at theirs? If yours, I can't see why you can't get the signature, then copy and give them the copy. If at theirs, I can't see why you can't take or send two copies and get two signatures.

I don't necessarily agree that carbonless paper looks more professional. The copy can be hard to read over time. I'm quite used to being sent two identical copies of things to sign: one to keep and one to return. Or even to having the invoice emailed to me!

Forgive me if I appear dim but why does the customer have to sign an invoice?

An invoice is an invoice not a delivery or advice note.

I print two copies, one white one for the customer and one pink one for my records, it works fine and nobody signs either.

I think its best to get the sign because for the service i do they sign the job is done and for the parts i sell (if any) and that they are happy and agree to pay. Many customer pay by cheque so if i get signed i have more rights to get
the payment if they cancel the cheque. And that they agree to the T&C thats on the invoice. my customers sign on at theirs site.

Printing two copies maybe its a better idea after all thinking about the prices.

I am sure you are right about the prices, and I do also think you can get a better image this way, PLUS if you have to change your phone no. or anything like that you are not lumbered with 500 invoices showing the old number! Justin Credit's idea of different colours for your and the customer's copy could also be useful.

Depends on what carbonless paper you mean, most printers can print on NCR (no carbon required paper) and they can be percolated in two or three sets pre bought. Or you can choose the paper colour combinations. Any commercial printing company will print NCR and then can put it in books, sheets, pads, or number them. No issue really. They are usually fairly cheap if you buy a reasonable quaintly.

Surely it's too late to accept the T&Cs after the job's done. They should be accepting them as soon as they confirm the order or ask you to start the job. Signing an invoice doesn't mean anything at all. If they refuse to sign and then dispute the bill, you're up the creek - as they haven't accepted the T&Cs.

You need to sort this one first and then ...

.. this becomes the logical solution :D

If you save each invoice in a folder according to its number, you actually don't need to keep a paper copy. You just have the "original" electronic copy to print off if you ever need it. Remember, the tax man only wants you keep proper records ... they don't have to be in paper format.
