Car wanted - Suggestions please

I have this very old 1991 honda accord that sits outside a block of flats. Just bought a set of windscreen wipers and on returning found that someone has broken in and ripped all the wires on the other side of the steering column ignition, and tried rewire it.

So i'm looking for another reliable, rust free and cheap to run car which a tall big bloke with a duff back can easily get into. I do about 2000 miles a year, bur mostly city miles.

Was thinking about a cr-v or RAV4, but open to other suggestions.

Golf Mk4 Petrol or diesel. Bargain price and reliable. Plus no worries if you have similar - though they are more difficult to break into being newer
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.
  • Not sure about the 5 series, but sounds expensive!

Golf, er no! for starters it is a bit low, if it has a sun roof then my head will definitely touch that-know from experience, an on some model cars the curvature where the screen meets the windscreen is so low it acts as a visor, to the point where in my younger days I had to lean at an angle to see traffic lights. Thanks though.

MX-5 -- this will sort out your bad back one way or the other and some good ones for £2K.

I would stick to honda or any other Japanese car. I have a 07 honda Jazz. Not the coolest, but very reliable, comfortable and surprisingly spacious. The 07 Jazz is the last of that engine type before they switched.

For 2000 miles a year I'd get a big juicy cruiser as it'll be cheaper to buy and get more for your money.
  • love an MX-5, but they'd have to get a crane to get me in and out :)
    Mazda 5 though, mmmm.

Would love something big and juicy like a lexus RX, but couldn't pay 10K+ and see it sit and rust most of the month.

Do like Japanese reliability and build quality.

Don't think I'd want a pre 2008 one, supposedly they get expensive to look after with age.

Bit of a wild card, but how about a Toyota surf. 3.0 engine is best as the 2.4 can have engine head issues. saw one just recently at 2k. was a lot of car for the money.

Honda Jazz is mentioned by that angry dashcam user - It's always a f---ing Jazz!
Only thing he got right, it is always a Jazz....
