agree with using the bus but you will need more or less the right change - bus driver was unhelpful when I asked about the stop I wanted, but one of the other passengers helped me out. However I then realised that there was a neon sign on the bus displaying the name of the next stop every time the bus stopped, so it wasn't difficult after all.
Also agree that you can easily change sterling at a better rate than you'll get here, so I would only get a bit before you go.
There is a good free walking tour every day from the main square, see here http://www.cracowfreewalkingtour.com/
I would do this on your first day then you have a good idea of where things are0 -
never thought about that doshwater i will defo look into the bus route
I found this: http://www.krakowairport.pl/en/passenger,c70/transport-parking,c76/how-to-get-to-krakow-airport,c77/by-public-bus,a198.html
The bus stops at the airport and railway station have ticket machines so you just need some coins. I bought a bottle of water at the airport to get some change.0
