It may be in your best interest to make a claim then.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0

but does it have to be done today?0

The day after you finish working.
Do the claim online on your first day unemployed to get the ball rolling.
The 7 waiting days only start from the day you make the claim, so waiting 7 days and then claiming will not shorten that time scale at all.0 -

You could leave it for 6 months if you wanted to - it's not a requirement to sign on.
You will only start getting money/ stamp credited a week after filling in the forms.
If you complete them on the weekend there's a chance the 7 day waiting period won't be logged until monday, but all this newfangled online stuff is after my time.
A couple of days (or a week) shouldn't make a difference to your NI for the year, so if you don't want to do it today... don't.That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

If you're SE you'd be paying class 2 contributions.
You can have a mixture of class 2 SE and class 1 Employed at the same time. If you were employed for any length of time you would suspend paying the class 2 stamp0
