From a simple Christmas Card to a Gift or a simple favour
Sadly I think am a bit of a soft touch I need to Man up lol or something like that.

Hi All
Am up, and reflecting on my day out yesterday. It was such a lovely spin. I really enjoyed. Ended up back in time to just make church which was a bonus as I had forgotten! oops. I rarely know what day it is, even work days have to be confirmed.
Anyway, on to today, Turkey lunch to go on, sitting room is a disgrace, need to prep veg. All very normal, but really I should be decluttering.
Decision made, I am going to select 15 books to be CS. At the moment e bugs is too much effort for me.
I might just wander back to bed with another tea before I start. Is this procrastinating?
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Little things done yesterday:
Sold a bag I love but don't use - £20 put in my purse for my spends for the month.
Popped into local shop to check out 'Derek's deals' - bought 10 packs of crisps for 50p - only grocery spend so far this year.
Went round the house turning off lights and opening curtains as soon as daylight was upon us.
Took recycling to recycling centre - mindful consuming.
Husband laid insulation in my in laws new annexe next door (a job that's been waiting since June!)
Updated our banks/budgets.
Ensured all tumble drier fluff, Hoover dust, peelings and loo roll tubes were put in the compost bin.
Used up the last of the lettuce, tomato and cucumber, 2 tortilla wraps and drank the dregs from 3 bottles of soft drink in the fridge.
Had leftovers for lunch.
Had a look in my stash and used up a sachet of shampoo and conditioner rather than my preferred open products.
Did a manicure on myself before bed.
Moisturised after shower using up a very small amount of my massive moisturiser stash!
Read this thread for more ideas!
Checked free postcode lottery.
Dried washing on airer rather than tumble drier.
Rounded down all the little budget pots on my spreadsheet which make up my bank balance and managed to overpay £45 to our mortgage.
Enjoyed some free things instead of going out and spending money - a cup of tea in my favourite mug, a hot shower, letting the kids change radio stations on my vintage radio and dancing to whatever song they found, seeing my sister on her birthday, making the bed, thinking about the year ahead.
IWAB x2024 - happy, healthy, quality over quantity, buy nothing new (and 2nd hand only if NEEDED), mindful spending, nurturing myself and family, living for now.
Mortgage @ 31/12/23 £248k - too high, interest rate gone up - want this down asap!
Debt @ 31/12/23 £16k - no interest - will clear over 5 years hopefully.
Emergency savings £4k - been ransacked over last year - needs attention :-(0 -
IWAB - I wouldn't have known to put hoover dirt and tumble drier fluff into the compost heap. I was only saying to my family yesterday that the only thing in our bin now is things like that & crisp packets etc that can't be recycled. I don't remember the last time I threw any food away." We still have our Christmas things up. Can't decide whether to tackle that today or just leave it till next weekend. As we are still technically on holiday till mid week...

Morning all

My brother has just gone home after being here since 22 December :j Not that I don't enjoy seeing him, but it was a very long visit and it will be nice to get back to normal. He leads let us say a complicated lifestyle, and he may have had nowhere else to go, so no option to suggest he makes his visit a bit shorter. He is back to work tomorrow, so happy to go back.
For me today:
Update Grocery Challenge totals after Lidls spend yesterday Done
Sort out spare bedroom and strip the bed Done just have the ensuite to finish
General clean and tidy - I have done quite a lot of work on my business over the last couple of days and subsequently no housework. Is it me or does it get dirtier in the winter?
Tidied the kitchen and dining room. Cleaned the loft conversion bedroom
Order flowers for friend's birthday - try to get a good deal and see if I can go through Quidco Done, ordered from Waitrose, and got cashback already tracked
Heating on only in kitchen downstairs. If the radiator is on in there, it keeps the rest of downstairs bearable. I will light the wood burner later. Not lit the wood burner yet, as the oven is on. Kitchen radiator off. Will see how it feels later when the oven is turned off!
Sort washing - may put a wash on later Done, bedding from spare room in, with a few other pale coloured bits
Cook a large joint of lamb that OH got out of the freezer - should be enough to last a few days OH is doing
Freezer inventory and meal plan that didn't happen yesterday
Done the freezer inventory :A I will look at meal plans when I know how much lamb is left, as this will need using before I get anything else out of the freezer. I have taken out a tub of stewed berries for breakfasts though - lovely with cereal and Greek yogurt, which I already have
Well, that lot should keep me busy
Hope everyone has a good day

Good afternoon, I had a long sleep this morning.
My plan of action for today:
Feed the animals and check for eggs
Get a quick shower
Look into 3 sites for money making
Do daily clicks
Check free postcode lottery
Catch up with ironing for ds2
Do 2 loads of washing
Do some work on ucas form
Submit s &s information
Spend an hour on crafting
Take mum home as she has been staying for a break over the festive period
All meals from stores
Sort out bags, clothes and lunches for tomorrow
Catch up with the £10 challenge
Sort some of diary
Get an early night
I think that is enough to be working on today. Hope everyone has a good Sunday0 -
Hi,
Today I have:
*Made a freezer list. 25 days of meals in there plus other ingredients.
*Read energy meters & updated spreadsheets.
*Updated my diary with days that packed lunches are needed.
*Put an extra layer on to keep extra heating off.
*Had a chat with Mr f about budgets generally.
All useful stuff.

Hi Guys
Back again. Just had a nice outcome which proves not all big retailers are heartless. Yesterday we took our son to toys r us to spend some of his pocket money. He decided on 2 cases of loom bands and a lollypop. The loom bands were reduced to 96p each. When we got home I suddenly realised looking at the reciept he'd been charged for 3 cases. I figured as we were now at home and the shop was too far to walk back to we were out of luck as how to prove we didn't have 3 all along. Anyway I discussed it with him and he decided after I explained the pros and cons that he'd like to go back and try for a refund. So we've just been back. We fortunately found the original shop member and she very kindly agreed a refund and was very nice about the whole thing. As she said ' why would you lie?'
Goes to show 2 things. 1. Don't be afraid to ask for your money back in any circumstances and 2. Always check your reciepts and don't make purchases with half an eye on things.
