    Hi all!

Got up super late.... My excuse is that it was soon much warmer under the covers and therefore didn't need the heating on....
Breakfast and dinner from stores.... Mil is taking us all out for a meal later (strange woman) so free food yay! Will cost us in petrol but that's already in the car so don't have to put any in.
Made a few swags and maximiles.
Need to see if daughter wants the pony thing from HB and if so remove said cash from her money box.... Hopefully in the form of a £2 coin!!!

Good luck all, hope you have a great weekend! We're off to the pants tomorrow curtesy of my mum so another freebie!

  • Hi everyone, well after a lazy evening yesterday, I've made up for it today!

    My do/done list for today:
Bedding washed and dried and back on the bed
Two further loads of washing done on quick economy cycles
    Walked to DD's swimming lesson
Tidied and hoovered living room, bathroom, stairs and cleaned kitchen. DH put away the Christmas decorations yesterday, so the house is now back to normal.
I've been on a mission to use up food that is near its sell by date - I had 2 large tubs of single cream and have made chicken in cream for tea (recipe found on MSE) and some creamed potatoes (another found here) and I'm going to make a rice pudding later with the rest.
I've also made a batch of carrot and lentil soup to use up the very sorry looking carrots. I'll use this for my lunches next week. I've done a lot to make use of leftover Christmas food - but could definitely do better - some of you would freak out at how much has still gone into the bin this week!
Ironed and photographed some clothes ready to list on eb@y later - I need to do this tonight and then get some more done tomorrow to take advantage of the free listing promotion.
No heating on all day - I've been warm enough with all the cleaning, ironing and cooking!
Checked bank (no idea why on a weekend!)
Going to take back DD's school shoes bought in September - the patent coating has come completely off on one shoe and I had to buy her more last week even though they still fit. I mentioned what had happened to her last pair in the shop and they advised to bring them back. Not sure what I'll get back - but as I never complain or take anything back, just telling them was a breakthrough for me - anything else will be a bonus!

Well, I've finished my brew, so best get ready to go...bye for now.

Hope it is OK to join in - need to get back on the straight and narrow this January. So today

    1. Went for a 2 mile run as part of my lose a stone challenge
    2. De Christmassed the house
    3. cleaned the house from top to bottom
    4. Changed 2 beds and did 3 loads of laundry on quick wash
    5. Checked bank accounts and transferred 25.43 to savings - money left over from this weeks grocery budget
    6. Cooked half price ham bought in Al@i yesterday - will do tea tonight and sandwiches next week
    7. Made quiche to use up eggs and streaky bacon
    8. Cleaned my discustingly filthy oven

    Kn@ckered now !

Hello! Not new to MSE but new to this forum. :)

Have a "lightbulb moment" every January, but this year we have decided to grab it with both hands and sort our money out. Snowball predicts that we can be debt-free by [STRIKE]the end of 2016[/STRIKE] mid 2017, but I'd like to make it sooner.

    This weekends goals....
    • No Spend Days Saturday and Sunday
    • Do weekly finances and make sure all bills up to date
    • Bulk cook some meals for the freezer
    • Plan lunches for the next fortnight
    • Declutter and tidy the Dining Room (miss family meals round the table)
    • Mentally prepare for a couple of tight months while our new budget kicks in :)

  • Another update:

Shopping finished remembered I had a voucher for Morrisons for £5 which meant I only had to spend £14.73 real money and £37.92 in Aldi. this should see us through a couple of weeks at least.

Been through all of my small change and sorted breakfast club. Only for the week for youngest dd.

deposited cheques totalling £46.58 and also £40 cash in bank today. Had a bit of a shock when I saw my online balance this morning so feeling a bit better that I have managed to deposit that.

Have a cheque to get reissued as I couldn't deposit it as it was over 6 months old oh well. At least that will be a few more pounds in the bank when I get it sorted!
Overdraft 1 £750- reduce by £50 per month
Challenges £2 savers and sealed money pot

Wow that is classy. Not. I don't get that anyone would think that's a nice thing to do. Especially after your generous favour.

Littlepinkpurse.......oh, that's tight! You should have been treated to a bit of lunch by your friend for doing her a big favour. You'll know for next time. It reminded me of a past friend who years ago asked me to be her bridesmaid. I said I'd love to. The next day, she phoned back to ask if I'd be her 'Best Woman' instead. Why? Turned out she'd read in a book on wedding etiquette that she would have to pay for the bridesmaid's dress! So I bought an outfit & wore all black!
