Thanks Freddy,
Initially I will just activate and get the NOW box to work with catchup, without any hacking atall, as I getting to grips with understanding the new tv as well.
As regards the now box and activating an account, am I right in thinking that even to get catchup tv on now box I have to take a free trial with now tv and maybe then cancel the trial after activating
As I say I want the most cost effective way (preferbably free) to get the catchup tv services available on it.
Tried going to Nowtv website but its not entirely clear, just a free trial to movies the others costing.
Thanks if anyone can clear this up for me.

I also have a Nexus 7 (2nd generation) which is Miracast enabled, also have BT Sport - and stream it to a TV via a Push2TV thing (cost about £50) HDMI'd to the TV. Works well, occasionally freezes while buffering. Only problem I find is that SkyGo on the Nexus won't work with Miracast. Haven't tried it with other TV stations as I have the sky wireless thing as well on another TV, so use that for catch-up - or record onto the HDD of my Sky+ box and watch it later!0

Didn't see it mentioed scanning the thread, but Chromecast does PLEX too, so that's not a deal breaker. Hacking the NowTV box is nice and easy too.buy a now tv box , and modify it to take PLEX
If I had to choose one of them, I'd choose the Chromecast.0
