if I read this right, saying I am better off NOT switching????? Or has MSE made a mistake?

MSE has not made a mistake ....you are mis-reading their email....several people have attempted to explain your mistake but you still don't seem to understand.

It says you would save £ 362 compared to the tariff you were on.......simples.

The big mistake is thinking you will save this as it presumes you will go onto the current suppliers standard tariff. As has been advised you should compare it to any other tariff you can go onto with your current supplier as well. I am sure if you were savvy enough to fix your prices that you would not revert to a standard tariff.

I now switched to the EDF 2016 deal online tariff changed. I rather cancel the Coop deal for now and recheck as the email from MSE really confused me!

Send Dan at Cheap energy club an email he is very good at clarifying things.

Run the comparison on the Co-op website instead.

Then you'll establish the saving without having to decipher the ambiguous language;-

I apparently save £98 on coop website against a fixed price EDF deal. Decided to pursue the switch and see how it goes.
thanks for your replies (but I still think the email from MSE was not very clear IMHO)
