Santander Cancelled it's Credit Card

  • The fact they enclosed a CIFAS leaflet would suggest there is a serious problem with your credit file. Are you 100% you didn't misrepresent anything on your application?

    Hi,

I received the letter today, it's just a generic decline letter, I have checked my credit check on noddle and don't have any defaults no cifas.

I applied for the card on 19th of November and they decided to cancel the card on the 30th of December.

I can't upload the picture due to being a new member. remove the spaces.

Anything I can do? What would be next step? Shall I just pay off the full amount I owe them ?

    Thanks

Sounds like they are a bit behind on their application referrals, either that or something has matched retrospectively and they have taken another look.

You'll have to just pay off what you owe them, not much can be done about it.

Complain. Ask them why they have breached their T&C by failing to give you two months' notice and failing to give you their reason for closing the account.

Again, ask them. If you have not breached the T&C and they don't accuse you of fraud, I don't see why you can't keep making minimum payments until 18 months expire.

Noddle is just Callcredit. I would also check the others, just to be sure.

I am not so sure they are obliged to give you a reason for declining or withdrawing a card - though withdrawing an existing is different to declining a new application. Presumably that will go through on your credit report.

However, it does not add up. You are of the belief that there is nothing on your credit reports to initiate this. They on the other hand have 'reviewed' the situation and decided to withdraw the card.

Personally that would concern me and I would be getting onto Experian or Equifax for a report. You can get them free for a months trial. if everything is all clear I would pursue it further with Santander - if not and there is something on your credit history that you think should not be there you need to deal with that as a priority.

thank you all, I will check the other agencies too.. also will ask hunter to provide me what they hold about me... with callcredit under cifas nothing is present, no ccjs no defaults. all accounts are clear. Although on the letter it states cifas leaflet is enclosed nothing was enclosed.. Can I ask CIFAS to see what they hold against me?
