Where can I get this lightbulb from

Hi

I dug out my old musical night light from when I was a baby (20+ years ago) to give to my new born. Even after all these years it works !!! However the night light has stopped working presumably because the bulb has gone

So took the thing apart and got the bulb out and its this tiny bulb which I have never seen before:

Been round B&Q and a few other places but could not find one anywhere.....any suggestions of where to purchase from?

Thanks

take it into an independant car spares place NOT HALFORDS and ask them if they know what it is and have they got anything like it.
I say not halfords because they will want the reg number, frame number, VIN number, want to see the V5 etc etc etc.
alternatively, google electrical repairs and your nearest town and take the whole unit to them and ask about the bulb.
just in case you need to know:

  • it's a low voltage bulb - but the markings on the metal will tell you exactly the one you need.
Maplin will stock it, if you take it to a store they'll sort it for you.
    Should be about £1

Small, hobby style, model/electrical shops would be the sort of places to head for. Where old men who fiddle with making models etc in their sheds get their bits and bobs from to make their scale model railways, amateur radios and other paraphernalia.

As said above, Maplins is the biggest name on the street ... but many towns will have an old fella in a small shop in a back street, with a shop piled high with bits and bobs.

Looks like a standard torch bulb but you need to read the metal body to confirm the voltage and current, as they come in various voltages.

Maplins stock torch bulbs, various similar looking bulbs on their website - just need to know the rating:

Looks like the sort I used to put in my bicycle lamp many years ago. Try a shop selling/repairing bicycles? Or perhaps look for one of those suppilers, on the web, of spares for old radios - it looks also like the type used to illuminate the dial.

Can you tell us what markings are on the metal bit? (It'll be something like 0.4W 12V)

It looks like a standard old style torch bulb. Might be difficult to source as torches have gone over to LED's.
But I'll bet someone out there has a stock of them.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

To me it looks exactly like a plain old torch bulb. If you don't know the voltage needed, just look at the item's batteries and add up their voltages (it's cumulative).

The bulb has no indication of the volts as it's a very old bulb!! Went I maplin and they could not help me choose which one. I'll find out what and how many batteries it uses
