I am a big fan of DPD, and I've emailed them to tell them so. They used to be Amazon's courier of choice around this way, but they then switched to the woeful Amazon Logistics, and we rarely see them any more. Their one hour timeslots let us get on with things - walk the dog, pop to the supermarket, meet up with friends - knowing that we're not coming home to one of those "Sorry we missed you" cards.

IMO, it's a definite model of how things should, or at the very least could, be done by other couriers.

And yet i had to wait in for them on four separate occasions recently when they gave me time slots when they would collect something and then failed to show and was met with utter imcompetence when I called to ask why.

Impressed with them last week. Got the delivery slot text just 10 mins before the delivery slot. I was out, so followed the link to arrange leaving the parcel in a safe place. Got a text 15 mins later (near the start of the hour slot) to say it had been left as requested. Impressed the driver got the updated instructions straight away.

Because its instant on his PDA.

I remember i was waiting for 2 deliveries by DPD, 1 was coming at 11 to 12 (cant remember exact times) and another at 3 to 4. by same driver. when he turned up for first delivery i mentioned this, so he checked on his PDA and said yes its on this load, but system would not allow him to give me second item as i could not sign for it until the slot. He them phoned his depot, who changed the time of second delivery so had to wait a few minutes while the new slot opened on his PDA. so i could sign for second delivery rather than have him return later.
