Thank you Ampersand and safe travels! yes quite pleased with those figures!
Will definitely involve kids with menu planning and maybe even cooking again! They enjoyed that!
I think DD3 has a dress that she can wear to the wedding - so really only DS to sort and no idea what he will wear as his wardrobe at the moment is joggers or school uniform and not much else!!! I am sure we will find something acceptable!!!
I have no doubt the home straight will throw some challenges my way - but I will deal with them!!!!0 -

I have a 25% discount voucher for the Sandcastle in Blackpool if that is any use to you?
could I be really cheeky and ask where you got the voucher from?
EX OH has told me, with 6 days notice DS will not be spending his birthday with him after all, thinking Sandcastle would be a good place for a couple of 15 year old boys?LIVE SIMPLY * GIVE MORE * EXPECT LESS * BE THANKFUL0 -
Judi,Re. DD3:
a brief story my DS. He has a form of Aspergers. He is lovely, funny, thoughtful and quite quirky. he is very skinny and very tall with mad curly hair (utterly gorgeous still)
He was badly bullied at primary school. He has nearly sucked into paying some boys so they would "be his friend, not his enemy" at age 10! I was sick with dread about secondary, but he has been the happiest there than ever. I think it's because there is so many kids, there are bound to be a few who have similar interests/hobbies/personalities etc. His confidence is wonderful now, he has faith in himself, the change is amazing.
So, just wanted to give you a little "bright side story"

Thanks Asparagus - I'm sure she will be fine - you just can't help but worry can you? she seems quite confident around her friends - I am just aware that there is group from her primary school going the the high school that are not particularly nice to her! I guess she will find her way through it all! Its good to hear a positive story though Thank you!
Beannie - I love the flowery ones but yours sound fab too (and the socks)!!! by the time I can afford a pair (round about retirement age !)I will be too old for a pair!!!
We are away at our little Ironbridge visit - the Victorian Town museum was great - paid in with Tesco vouchers as planned - but forgot to get cash so only had £10 between us which we converted into old money - it was split between DS and DD3 and they managed to spend it on sweets, Chelsea buns and candle dipping so ended up even cheaper than expected. We then headed back to the hotel and had swim and decided to eat out at a carvery that was £5 a head so not too bad at all and was really good quality (no soggy veggies)- found it thanks to reports on Tripadvisor. Tomorrow we are heading back to the museums (got to get my moneys worth even though it was free !!!)0 -
Well back from our trip and it was good and not too expensive - the second museum was called Enginuity which was great - fully hands on a really captured my Ds and DD3's imagination.
came home and got stuck into baking for DD1 fundraising bake sale - made 24 vanilla cupcakes 12 chocolate cupcakes 3and 30 lemon drizzle cupcakes - hope she makes a few pounds from that lot!
Off to walk the Dolly Dog today - I think she has been a bit neglected this week! And I need to blow some cobwebs away!!!! Got some thinking to do - head seems to be all over the place at the moment!
Happy Bank holiday!!!!0 -
Well I had a lovely walk with Dolly Dog yesterday. I have a thing about canals at the moment - I love strolling along the tow path watching the boats and love the amazing feats of engineering that enabled industry to grow and develop via the canal systems - it reminds me of how resourceful the human race can be (when not trying to destroy itself!) - this is where I walked yesterday:

I was meant to be going to my friends last night but really just wanted a night of peace and quiet - I had the house to myself so I had a lovely scented bath using a gifted bath bar from Lush (my favourite!) then sat in my bedroom and finished a book and it as lovely!!!
Nothing to report money wise except that my gas and electricity DD has been cut again - it is now £121 a month (it was £188 a year ago) and I am in credit by £110 - so that should give me the winter buffer. I have replaced around half of the spot lights with energy saving ones so far and will do the rest next month before the dark nights draw in fully and we need the lights more.
DD1 made £91 towards her volunteering trip at the bake sale after Church which I think was pretty good! My cakes must have been ok!
Not much planned today - I am trying to plan the next few months (money and general stuff) as It is pretty hectic from now to Christmas! and today is my last day off before heading back to work tomorrow - I have loved being off - and although I enjoy my job I know it has the ability to make me very stressed - I need to look always of managing as I feel so much better when I am not so stressed!0 -
Hi Judy,
Hope you and yours are all well.
Did you actually walk over the bridge?! Looks lovely but I just cant "do" bridges... I feel like I want to steer off them when I'm driving - which is why I dont drive on them haha - tbh i dont think ive ever walked across one either!
Hope back to work after your hols wasnt too hectic - i have another week off (doing DIY) and then I'm back to work also - i'm contemplating going back earlier .. not sure which is worse ... DIY and being at home with DH or work :rotfl:0 -
I jumped on to our holiday narrowboat on that aquaduct and nearly plummeted straight off the other side. Fortunately my dad stuck his leg across to stop me!Debt LBM (08/09) £11,641. DEBT FREE APRIL 2021.
