Hi am getting a Howdens kitchen fitted soon and have been sourcing my appliances from elsewhere as I wasnt keen to use their Lamona appliances.
Does anyone have experience of fitting an integrated microwave in the Howdens purpose built Microwave wall unit?? Depth of unit is only 290mm.
I have found a few Whirlpool ones online which have the same measurements as the Lamona one but would like to hear from someone who has actually had one installed. One also looks the exact same as the Lamona one but its the nicest looking model .
Thanks in advance for any replies - happy new year to you all

Be careful about buying an integrated microwave that fits into a 290 mm deep cabinet. Look very carefully at the depth of the useable space. You Will find its not sufficient to fit a dinner plate in. Uou would be better getting an integrated microwave that fits into a 600mm deep tower unit as this will be a more realistic size oven.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

Thanks Phill99 I wont be getting a 600 deep tower unit so that is not an option.
I am thinking that I may just have to settle for keeping my microwave on worktop or get brackets so it can go on wall. I will discuss with joiner. Thanks for responding.0 -
There may be middle ground as your fitter can 'build out' the cupboard to accommodate a deeper microwave and cut down some end panels to suit.
Just another option.

Thanks Ruski, i will email fitter as he said he does loads of howdens kitchens so he might have come across this issue before. It was he who said avoid lamona appliances!0

I agree with him re: Lamona
Plenty o built in m/w's out there - take your pick and run it by fitter to ensure you can do the necessary mods to the layout.
Good luck

Did you ever get this resolved?
We've just taken delivery of a 290mm microwave housing for the wall and our hotpoint microwave is 320mm in depth. We went on advice from our Howdens designer who said don't get a microwave bigger than a certain Lamona one which was also listed at 320mm in depth.
Do Howdens even sell a microwave that fits?0 -
After looking into this extensively, and purchasing and returning two integrated microwaves, I found no microwaves that for other than the Howdens own brand microwave. The howden microwave measures 285mm up to the back of the face plate, which itself chamfers off to give additional depth to the unit that protrudes further than cupboard doors, this is why 320mm is mentioned.
I'm really disappointed that howdens have such shallow wall cabinets. Thankfully ao.com have been absolutely brilliant when it comes to returning items.
We've converted the howden cabinet to a storage cabinet using a pan drawer front which thankfully fits. The howdens microwave is very expensive and I'd be worried about it breaking also. Its just too much risk to splash the cash on an item that has a "standard" (non discounted" price of £450.
i have to say, everything else about Howdens has been good in my experience.
Hope this info helps.0 -
Appreciate this is an old thread but I have been looking for weeks to find an integrated microwave that fits the Howdens wall units.
I can confirm that we have just fitted the Neff H11WE60N0G and it fits like a glove!0 -
Thank you mrsammyp. I have also been looking for a microwave to fit a Howdens wall unit. However looking at the Neff instructions for the model you mention it says you should have a minimum of 500 mm depth although the microwave itself is less than 300 mm. I assume the additional depth is required for airflow to cool it. Do you have any comments in this.0

I would also add that my experience with Howdens has not been good. They have been very unhelpful and I'm not that impressed with the quality.0
