Let me know what you think of it kdf when you do!
Recipe number three
http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1221/easy-risotto-with-bacon-and-peas
Easy risotto, I have never cooked or even tried a risotto before, so this 'five ingredients, stock in all at once' approach appealed to me. From whta ive read, a risotto can be tricky to get right.
The hubby and I both agreed, whilst it was nice, it wasn't anything special. The recipe has brilliant reviews so we really was expecting much more. I won't be cooking this again! we prefer a jambalaya to this.
Tomorrow I'm using one of my favourite recipes; http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/9646/chinesestyle-braised-beef-onepot
Chinese beef one pot. We have this at least once or twice a month, often throwing it in the slow cooker which works just as well, it's so tasty. One of them 'I can't believe I made this' moments!
I really reccomend that everyone runs out for ingredients and makes it!Mummy to ds 29/12/06 dd 10/2/08 ds 25/5/11:Amy angel born too soon 18/11/12, always with me Emmie Faith:A15 projects in 2015 10/15completed0 -
Hey all,
I just noticed this thread and will be following with interest! I am not the greatest cook in the world, but can cook a few basics from scratch really well! The only problem is, like most of you, we end up stuck on them! Anything inventive I try to create ends up awful or just tasteless!
I do have a few cookbooks (most were gifts funnily enough :rotfl: ) Jamies 15 mins and Save with, and a hairy bikers, some slow cooker books too. I also have a load of tear-out recipes which haven't been tried and another load of supermarket cards...
As fate would have it, I actually tried one of the cards tonight! Thai Chicken Noodles -- it was ok actually! We would probably have this again as an easy midweek tea.
I can post the recipe if anyone is interested.

Will be doing my second bout of cookbooking this weekend. Am looking at a few recipes which include lentils.
Never tasted them! Are they just like a filler or do they actually taste of anything???
I'd be interested in the answer to this, ive never cooked with them before either!Mummy to ds 29/12/06 dd 10/2/08 ds 25/5/11:Amy angel born too soon 18/11/12, always with me Emmie Faith:A15 projects in 2015 10/15completed0 -

Basically recipes printed on cards and available for free in the supermarkets.
In my local morrisons there is a stand of them near the butchers part. There are also a load of them next to the notice board at the beginning of the store and there are some dotted around the shelves especially in the baking aisle, just under the products where the prices are. Hope this helps

Yes, they are just cards picked up in the supermarket... Some of them date back to when Sainsbugs were doing the "Feed for a Fiver" campaign -- and have never been tried
Ive probably got about 50 of them... Tried the first one todaySometimes lurking, sometimes posting, but always flying

It depends on the lentil, although none of them have a really, really strong taste. Red ones tend to taste more 'mealy' than anything, but they are kind of bland. Same for green and puy - they taste mildly nutty they're more of a texture than a flavour. They're a bit like tofu or beans, they tend to taste more of what you put with them than themselves.0 -

I always do the food shopping... Bizarrely, I actually enjoy it, but have never seen menu cards!!! I will have my eyes peeled on Sunday morning!!!
Bit put off lentils now. I think I have been put off them since, as a child, I watch Neil scrape them off the wall with a ladle after a hand grenade exploded in the lentils he was cooking in the young ones...
Unbelievably.... I just found it one YouTube!!!

Like I say - some of them are a few years old! I did see Mr T had some recipe cards at xmas, but don't know if they are a regular thing! Like carlamarie suggested, try the butcher/fish counters/bakery sections or by the door? Good luck!
I don't mind posting up recipes though if any one is interested.Sometimes lurking, sometimes posting, but always flying

Well the chapatis were a success, very easy to make and I'll definitely make them again. They were from the Paul Hollywood How to Bake book. I often buy chapatis to go with homemade curry and we enjoyed these as much.
We had them with chicken korma that I had previously made and frozen half from Ainsley Harriott's Meals in Minutes book. I'll happily share the recipes if anyone would like them. It feels like a healthier alternative to a takeaway and you know what's gone into it.
I now need to set myself some challenges for the next week. I'd love to do some baking but am also trying to lose weight:eek:
Carlamarie - yes I will do.
Hello to all the new joiners - I really didn't think many would be interested in my thread but it seems I'm not the only one with lots of books and feeling stuck in a rut0
