I'm very interested in acupuncture, do you mind me asking the cost and how long you go for? How is it supposed to help with conceiving? I know Charlotte in SATC had it done for that reason but that's all!

    Congrats JTR :D

I don't know much about TTC yet, but I think I'm on CD15. I haven't had proper monthlies the last two years, but had one last month on the 20th. I had what I think were kind of symptoms around the 20th on the previous two months so I'm fairly confident that I'm on or around CD15.

I'll probably do a test around Christmas to see if there's a BFP and/or if Aunt Flo rears her ugly head and then try to plan things more in the new year.

How long does it usually take to conceive on average?

Congratulations JTR!! Fingers crossed I'm not too far behind you. CD53 for me now, longest by 11 days and not even any spotting. Done 4 HPTs now though and all negative so giving up that hope and just trying to ride it out.

Trying acupuncture later today....supposed to be good for fertility but I'm terrified!! Rather try that before moving on to drugs etc though.

I've been trying for over 6 months now, 5 cycles officially, but just wish by body would regulate. ThinkPink what cycles had you had before 90 days?!

Well since coming off the pill to start ttc in Aug 2013 my cycles have been something like 70 days, 45 days, 170 days, 60 days then I got a bfp, but sadly had a mmc at 10 weeks which I had surgery for just after Christmas last year, since then my cycles have been mostly been around 45 days, plus one 60 day cycle and now one 90 day cycle, I've not once had a cycle under 40 days though since we started ttc! I do have pcos though.

I would just be happy to have a regular cycle, even I f that was 40 days!!
  • Congratulations JTR what a lovely early Xmas pressie for you.

As for me we've been trying to Did every other day but it is proving rather difficult with us both working long hours. Let's hope it quietens down in the new year!

Can vary considerably. Depends on so many variables like age, weight, health, diet, individual fertility, lifestyle - biggest one being luck.

    Taken from Baby Centre:
In general, a fertile couple has a good chance of getting pregnant within a year, as out of 100 couples trying to conceive naturally:
20 will conceive within one month
70 will conceive within six months
85 will conceive within one year
90 will conceive within 18 months
95 will conceive within two years

but as I said there are so many things that can alter your chances.

We started trying in March, conceived first month (but baby was terminated at 12 weeks - anencephaly)

This is our 4th cycle trying since. Although obviously feels much longer as we've actually been trying for 9 months including the first pregnancy.
    Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

    Savings target June 18 - £22,281.99 / £25,000
  • Advise please, been trying for only two cycles now. My period is a day late, tested with a £ shop test yesterday (first vue) which was negative. Are these test any good? Got a clear blue test upstairs but not sure it's worth maybe wasting this early on! 😁

I'd wait longer samjones, wait til it's a week late if you can! a day late is unfortunately not long. have you just come off the pill or anything?

those asking about acupuncture = it's supposed to help regulate your hormones and thus your cycle. my local, well recommended place is £40 a pop (!!!) and should have affects after a couple of months = so i'll probably go maybe 6 times over that period?

it's massive expense but we really want to conceive and after 7 months/5 cycles my body is all over the place so it's worth it to us - we're cutting down on other things and using some savings.

I'm a bit anti-"drugs" so would prefer to use natural remedies if at all possible.

  • Thanks cats, tested again with the other £ shop strip this morning still negative but no period yet either. Not normally late so a bit unsure about what's going on, will try and wait a few more days!! This is my second cycle after having my coil removed, trying for our third baby eeekkkk

Here we go again! We are at CD18 and in the TWW. I will be able to test on my Mum's birthday next week (Thurs). What a wonderful surprise that would be for her! We managed to BD on days 10, 12, 14 & 16.
