Turnips & Kale sprouting in my cold frame. Peas sprouting, but not many yet and there are some suspicious looking holes in that bed. Cat caught a whopper mouse nearby earlier in the week, hopefully that's that for the time being. Got Sweet Woodruff leaves drying to make some form of Schnapps (not too sure I can be bothered with the full on Maibowle recipe). If I was making Noyau, now would be the time to harvest the beech leaves - they're just coming through (rule of thumb - if you can't eat one raw, don't use it for the Noyau)

Sorry if I'm helping turn this into the Grow Your Own Drinks Cabinet thread

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?

I spent most of the day on my allotment making two beds. It was the last bit of land that hadnt had much work done on my allotment. Last year I grow on that bit wildflower meadow and caulis, cabbage. I just got to dig the two beds over tomorrow and plant some grass seed on the path I made today which separates the two beds.

I have spent most of this week on allotment now and making full use of my new greenhouse. I also made a large GH staging made from wood which I had spare. Two 6 foot rails from fence cut into half each rail for legs and some wood along legs to support some wire for shelving. Now have 3 shelves and the staging is around 6 foot long and quite solid built.

I keep getting told I got best allotment on site but really dont want to win any prizes or get too much notice of it being too good. Hard work and some money is all it took me. I saved up and waited many years for a plot. I enjoy the allotments its really my little paradise

I've moved my tomato plants from the house to the greenhouse today, potted on some lettuces, planted out the kohl rabi in the raised planter. I have some pea pods. And I've cut the grass back and front.

What a lovely day I went out into the garden just after 10.00 and have just come back in having spent all day potting and planting - and the planting is chancy so fingers crossed that it doesn't get frosty in the next three weeks whilst everything stabilises. I am going to sow more annuals tomorrow plus my next set of peas to grow on. I think I will be feeling all this bending and stretching tomorrow!

Jazee savemoney tootallulah:- gosh, you have been really busy, I thought I'd done a lot today but it's nothing compared with you, however it's lovely to have good weather in April.

I have 20 raised beds, now done a total of 11 beds either cleared and ready for planting/sowing or they have already been planted. I'm afraid age, bad back and mobility slow me down. not to mention loads of livestock which have to come first.

Zafiro, thanks for your kind words but my garden/plot etc are tiny compared to what you have, and no livestock either unless you count the two dogs.

Must must remember to get out in the greenhouse twice a day now to water everything. Will have to change routine before the paid stuff to make sure this happens.

Thanks for the encouragement. I do have a fair bit of spare time which lately spending more time down there. Its just hard work and sadly money I have had to throw at allotment to get it going. Lats year it was a mess and neglected and covered in weeds, and brambles seems few wanted to take the plot. But because I was grateful of one I was prepared to put the work in.

I post some pictures later to show what its like now

On the new allotmet, I now have potatoes in, and onions, carrots, radishes, broad beans and beetroot in :j

We seem to have more planted than anyone else at that site. I don't know if that's a good thing or not :o :rotfl:
