Hi Lily Rose-I used to be really good at paying stuff off a few years ago-then let things slip...! I know what you mean about summer holidays abroad-the prices are horrendous! We've got a tent so it's quite handy and cheap for us to drive to Norfolk in the summer holidays when the weather looks promising. I'm a fair weather camper though! It's annoying when things go wrong and scupper our money saving efforts isn't it? Someone smashed off my wing mirror just before Christmas which I could have really done without!HSBC Visa-High interest-£2349.23 Nat West £2605.18

Well that's the end of another busy week.....have had a student in tow all week, which just makes more work!! Oh well.....only another 8 weeks of the allocation to go:eek:
Bit of a shock today.....Lloyds have removed my 0% interest rate as I was a couple of days late with my payment (they refunded the fee when I contacted them - as it's the first time ever!) so this has spurred me to apply for the 0% for 35 months Barclaycard.....and I've been accepted:j. Have applied to transfer all my credit card debt.....so once this has gone through, all my debt will be on one card. This will make my life much easier.....and means that everything can be thrown to one card. Yes, I have incurred a balance transfer fee.....but having 0% for 35 months makes it worthwhile;)
I intend to pay off Next once I get paid at the end of the month, and the council tax/water rates will be thrown at Barclaycard, along with anything else I can afford!
Hubby has been paid a little early.....so am moving that aside into another account so we don't touch it! Have also decided that child benefit will pay for all the kids activities/clothes etc....DS1 no longer gets the bus to school, so I'll be cancelling his bus pass £26 p/m and will keep a little bus fare 'kitty' in case he has the odd bus trip to make. Next month I have to pay for DD's swimming and gymnastics....so anything left will go into a 'kids' account. Not sure how much we'll have leftover though...DS1 needs a new pair of trainers too:eek:
This weekend will consist of the usual shopping, cleaning etc....need to try and do something with DD as she isn't one for just lounging around the house. I could do with getting out for a walk...so might get her out on her bike! DH is having a bike off my parents...so might get him out cycling too. Just hope the weather doesn't scupper our plans.
Had a week with a few 'spends' but none of these added to the debt. DH's car basically passed the MOT & we've had our shower fixed...all essential but paid for!:j
Have a great weekend!2nd January 2015: Total £4970.70 Total now: £4878.88 :eek:Mum & Dad £100/£1795.00[STRIKE]Next £135.70/£135.70[/STRIKE]Balance now £0 :j

Hi
Just found your diary and subscribed, as I could have written those aims too!
Have been trying to work out why I compulsively shop today, and think some of it is to do with weight. Basically I am always hoping that new dress will make me look ok, when in reality i am expecting way too much of a mere piece of clothing!
You seem very focussed, well done!Fashion on the Ration 2020 - 5/66 spent0 -
Catching up with a few diaries on here as I've finally managed to sit down. Am getting very tired of spending my weekends doing chores, shopping etc...and need to find a new way of keeping on top of things. A messy house causes me to feel irritable & unhappy....so I need to find a new routine. Have tried Flylady before (the actual site...not the one on the OS board) and think I'm going to give it another go! The house is now quite ordered and tidy (as long as you don't go in any cupboards:eek: - so I'm going to dig the book out, look at the website, and make a plan:j
Money wise, had an unexpected £30 spend at the opticians for DS2 yesterday and overspent on my grocery shop (although it should see us through til payday...)... Grocery spending is one area I really need to address! Also felt bad that I haven't told DH about the debt (apart from the car loan)...he thinks we haven't got any credit card debt....how can I tell him I've messed up again?? To be fair, I've not spent I on myself...it's gone on 'family' spending....but I know he'd be really unhappy with me:(.
Are there any other working mums out there who manage the housework etc differently? I could do with some ideas! I am toying with Internet shopping again...but worry it'll be more expensive than my usual Aldi shop...any thoughts??2nd January 2015: Total £4970.70 Total now: £4878.88 :eek:Mum & Dad £100/£1795.00[STRIKE]Next £135.70/£135.70[/STRIKE]Balance now £0 :j
