;) Thursday 1st January 2015 - what small things will you do today ?

I have been through both my kitchen small freezer and garage freezer and sussed out exactly what is in both with the aim of making the contents cover quite a few meals in the next few weeks and also for a new year's party we are having tomorrow night. Managed to locate a full packet of sausage rolls and cocktail sausages so that will save me having to splurge at the supermarket again tomorrow! I am thinking of taking shares out in our local supermarket as I seem to have spent an awful amount of time and money there in the last three weeks. Socialising is lovely at this time of year but expensive.
Have done a budget for the first time today to try and stick to fairly strict limits for groceries just to see exactly what we do spend when you add up the odd bits and pieces as well as the weekly shop.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Oh dear, hope it doesn't disrupt too much of your day, do you work close to home? What do you do (just me being nosey/interested - I lead a very broing life, lol:rotfl:)
Hi, I am an insurance agent. Love my work, and very very fortunately my office is only 2 miles from home.
Got back and spoke to my sister in Scotland who has dechristmassed and started decluttering. Totally got me going, and I have now dechristmassed, and , yes AND REALLY
have decluttered the heap that is the top of the stairs. Now my daughter is 20 tomorrow and I found a bag of sun cream and beach stuff and beach crocs sized adult 2. She is now a 7 and has been for over 5 years:cool: OOPS.
Am totally in the mood now, well not really, but it is a start.
What do people do with stacks of baby photos?0 -
Sorry should add, I am really a farmer/farmers wife, so I actually do 2 things. Which is why the house and my personal life is so far down the list. Now all children grown up I am determind to tidy the house, get rid of some objects and tidy up my life financially. Sort of spring cleaning on a grand scale. MSE forum is such a motivator. I feel like I am not on my own with these activities.0

Hello all, Happy New Year. I would like to join this thread please, as 2015 will be the year that, hopefully, will make a difference for me.
Today I have:
Bought a bread maker via quidco, £43 plus 10% cashback - no more expensive bread full of preservatives
Started to save £1 a day in my pot (it already has about £50 in), this will pay for Christmas 2015
Cleaned my oven with 2 for a fiver oven cleaner kits - they were fantastic, my oven is gleaming
Had a NS day - I intend to have at least 5 per week over the next two weeks as I'm working away and can charge to expenses :-)0 -
Happy new year everyone - is it just me who is really irritated that the bank holiday means that my direct debits haven't come out yet so I can't check my YNAB budgets are reconciled with my actual balance?! Job for tomorrow I think!0

Hi
Just realised I never decluttered a drawer. I managed to procrastinate doing other decluttering. Maybe this is the way forward for me, doing other decluttering that is not drawers!0 -
First time posting on these threads even though I read daily!
Little things done today:
Used up rolls to make packed lunch for my sister heading back to Germany tonight.
Did a manicure on myself rather than treating myself to a booked one.
Turned thermostat back down.
Didn't have a fire as quite mild tonight (saved logs/coal).
Lunch was leftovers and half finished Christmas snacks.
Fuel in car filled up and purchased from cheaper town (was there anyway).
Sister bought me a pack of 9 loo rolls towards their use!
Tea at mums, yummy homecooked and free.
Hubby dug over some of the veg patch.
I made a note of water meter reads to keep track of usage.
Prepared tomorrow's tea (from freezer and stuck to meal plan).
Checked free postcode lottery.
Received bra extenders x3 that I'd paid £1.15 for from ebay and will help me make use of bras I have rather than buy new.
Put a bag and two pairs of boots on a for sale site.
IWAB x2024 - happy, healthy, quality over quantity, buy nothing new (and 2nd hand only if NEEDED), mindful spending, nurturing myself and family, living for now.
Mortgage @ 31/12/23 £248k - too high, interest rate gone up - want this down asap!
Debt @ 31/12/23 £16k - no interest - will clear over 5 years hopefully.
Emergency savings £4k - been ransacked over last year - needs attention :-(0
