Savvybuyer wrote: »Fancy sending me an email on Boxing Day asking for a meter reading. As if I'm going to read that while I'm still on Christmas holiday and catch up with it. Right - I'll ring the gas/elect. company possibly tomorrow, otherwise Monday then.:rotfl:
I've just switched energy providers and so a few days one evening phoned the gas company with the meter reading for a final bill. But they wanted the meter serial number as well. So outside I went in the pitch-black, with pen and paper, torch and meter box key (those little yellow plastic ones) opened the meter box and wrote down the serial number. Pen and paper in my pocket, and lock the meter box with the key. But where's the torch? I felt around on the ground (had I dropped it?), re-opened the meter box (had I left it inside?), but couldn't find it anywhere. I was getting really frustrated (it was my favourite Maglite torch), and was just about to swear to myself ... and it was then that I realised I'd put the torch between my teeth so I could read the number and write it down at the same time:o:o:o:rotfl:'It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.'

Have you all heard about this website? It massively cuts down the cost of air travel by showing you routes with stop-overs. E.g. As an example I just looked at a flight from London to Miami- cost £294. Stop over in Barcelona of all places!
Did you book the flight, or were you just window-shopping?'It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.'

Obviously turning down work carries the risk that the employer will stop offering hours though. He will however have the same basic rights as any employee regarding breaks etc. How many days a week is he working? And what breaks is he getting during a shift.
Annual leave works slightly differently with zero hours contracts and he should make sure he's getting what he's entitled to there as well.
Thanks for the reply fc some weeks he does 6 days mostly 12 hour shifts, if he turns down shifts they then don't give him work for for up to a week they treat the lads awfully, they have a lunch break but no other breaks he has been working there for years, they used to have him as temporary but lay him of for a few weeks. Then put him on zero hours he does make good money, but he does get tired and never sees his kids..0 -

Did you book the flight, or were you just window-shopping?
Is this how Holiday Pirates get there flights. I managed to get a £160 return flight from MAN to NYC via Atlanta of all places thanks to HUKD. Was tempted to cave on the price published for Bangkok by HP yesterday £260 return, can't remember where that was via. But still £200 cheaper than going direct which is amazing, going to use the site a lot so thanks EMAPP.0 -
