I don't do posh as all.
On our last holiday, we spent the last few days in a 5 star hotel where DS1 was the manager... it was embarrassing.... they fluffed out pillows, they did allow us to lift the glass of champagne to our mouths which they served constantly throughout the day....the other guess who were all really really posh even noted that we had OTT treatment (we are off fish dock! aka common as muck)
When we decided to take some bikes out about 10 pm (as we were slightly worse for the wear) we were followed by a limo!
DS1 later admitted that all the staff supported Liverpool football club (I think they changed allegiance dependent on who their boss supports) and he told them OH was a famous footballer from the 1980's and had a senior role in the club now...:D:D
Looking back it is funny, but it was very uncomfortable. We would be better in a 2 star... with the same amount of alcohol!
That is funny. I found myself making excuses this morning to explain why I hadn't eaten my cooked breakfast - the scrambled eggs were done chefy style - in other words they were so underdone they were practically clucking! Just looking at them made me feel ill. But rather than say anything I mumbled something about not being that hungryTomorrow I shall be asking for well done eggs!

I've been there. I had an embarrassing amount of s&g deodorants. high in the three figures and more than I could ever want, need or use. I ended up flogging them at a car boot (with an embarrassing amount of other toiletries I'd accumulated....all glitchy) and then towards the end of last year I handed not far short of £1000 worth of glitchy toiletries and the like over to a women's refuge.
I do get sucked in and caught up like everyone but the limits are there and when you reach them, maybe it's time to stop?
I have had a refreshing few weeks not shopping. I will always be a hopeless glitcher and bargain hunter but there are things that all go past us whilst we are so busy buying what we don't really need
Try it
I agree!
you see people posting their shops here, their sale hauls and go on about how much they've "saved"...but did they really need any of it to start with, I doubt it!!
I'm trying a no spend January, just buying essentials, fresh F&V and running down what I already have!"He that lieth down with dogs shall rise up with fleas" Benjamin Franklin

to be within mse rules you need to post this on the sponsorship/donation page then post the thread link on here.
Best of luck.

i'd love to go to dubai but hubby said he wouldn't got there as you can get arrested for kissing or holding hands in public, although it's not something we do here so i don't know what he's worried about :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
no not yetfreezer is still by our dining table & not got the other bits fitted yet as we've not had spare money for plumber & electrician but will hopefully start sorting things next month fingers crossed
I took DD to Dubai last year. It's just amazing. there is nothing that isn't just luxury. My enduring memory is of DD using the hotel loos, dashing back to the room and unceremoniously dumping the contents of our make up bag on the bed and dashing off with the empty bag, and coming back with a bag full of complimentary premium toiletries and make up:rotfl::rotfl:
Don't know where she gets that from
It was honestly amazing. We ate food we weren't born for and visited places that were just out of this world. I've been before years ago but the place has moved on so much since then. If you can afford it....go! it's an absolute experience not to be missed0 -

If you lived near me, I would sent OH around to get it sorted for you x
Shall we run off to Dubai together and leave the OH's here....:D:D:D100 -
Good evening all. Having a very non-MSE break in Cornwall (if you exclude the free upgrade to 4 star hotel with sea view, breakfast and spa)
Paid £6 for glass of wine so I could aquire the glass to drink the £4 bottle in my room
I would just have asked for some tap water so I could swallow my tablets- then the glass would have gone walkies
I even wince at paying £2.50 for a glass of wine
A pint of lime and soda in a London pub was £1 - that was bad enough“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

Is that not about normal?? Seems good for a London pub?“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”
