For anyone who uses trains, north of Birmingham, going south, possibly considering doing a cruise from Southampton over the May day bank holiday weekend
    - in particular Friday May 1st to May 4th
    - have a think about your trip to Southampton

OH says there will be major engineering works over that weekend between Stafford and Wolverhampton- assume then that they will do a bus replacement service starting from Stafford which will be horrendous.

Its about 40 mins on the train between Stafford and Birmingham - goodness knows how long it will take partly on the bus esp if its doing stops en route - the other weekend the bus was taking 3 hours between Crewe and Birmingham (normally an hour on the train)

so the connections in Birmingham will be messed up - anyone changing at New Street for Southampton (or anywhere south) is going to have severe problems -

Royal Caribbean, Fred Olsen and P and O all have cruises setting off over that weekend from Southampton to various places eg Norway including the little 2 and 4 days weekend taster cruises - we have been looking at these thinking that there might be some good last minute offers with so many ships setting off. We also like to go early May before the garden gets going fully.
So I put reminders on the calendar but that weekend has gone black skull and crossbones on it now

Its at least a 4 hour drive for us so we usually use the train, change at Stafford - very long tedious trip but then we don't have to worry about the car or parking etc

Actually caer is latin and means 'fortress'. The Romans built many forts here in England and you can see a derivation in placenames ending in caster, cester and chester.

Sorry, don't know the Welsh name for fields.

The Welsh name for fields is caer.

please can we have the 2 flavours and barcodes - one box of cat food looks much like any other :)
2 flavours still better than none :j
    And the Whiskas results are..

Bit of a damp squib really. It only picked up two of the four flavours of Whiskas that I tried and the Hartley's jellies that someone posted about earlier as comparing well at 25p in M all failed and compared to 50p each..:(

However, there are four other Whiskas flavours to try and it may just be that only one of the flavours I tried didn't work as the '2 for £5' wasn't picked up on it making the other not work too.

Anyway, the two below in blue definitely work so get stuck in..:D

    2 x Hartley's No Added Sugar Orange Jelly (115g) £0.80 £1.00
    1 x Hartley's No Added Sugar Raspberry Flavour Jelly (... £0.40 £0.50
    2 x Hartley's No Added Sugar Strawberry Jelly (115g) £0.80 £1.00
    1 x Haribo Maoam Giant Strawberry Stripes £0.10 £0.10
    1 x Haribo Maoam Giant Sour Stripes (15g) £0.10 £0.10
    1 x Whiskas Favourites in Jelly - Pouch (12x100g) £3.50 £2.50
    1 x Whiskas Meat Selection in Jelly - Pouch (12x100g) £3.50 £2.50

    1 x Swizzels Matlow Strawberry Refresher Bar £0.10 N/A
    1 x Whiskas in Jelly Poultry Selection - Pouch (12x100... £3.50 £3.50
    1 x Whiskas Fisherman's Choice in Jelly - Pouch (12x10... £3.50 £3.50

  • Possible new trigger in the 3 for £5

It was in the offer on msm this morning. Don't know what time it went off so it may need 24 hours to update. No in the offer on A5da.com either so probably will not scan through in offer but if SELs say it should then theres an opportunity for a gift card. The only problem is that msm may reflect the multi until tomorrows early morning update, it depends if the price changed before or after this mornings update and I don't know about that.

Edit: Actually is that the same one we were buying to compare? I can't check properly now as lunch is over :(

I've been thinking about what I said here about the 24 hours. Think I'm getting confused with competitors prices. From what I've seen before this shower gel should not scan through in the multi as the prices have updated on A5da.com so this should be immediate. This is not so good now they've reduced the price to £2, but should be able to use as a trigger with other items as long as the SEL states its in the offer. This is very important as the multi will not come off so will need to go to CS for refund and gift card.

I also noticed the following items which I'll test shortly after 5pm. These were also in the 3 for £5 offer until the price update today:

    Lynx Shower Gel - 2012 Final Edition (250ml) A £2.38 v T £1.00
    http://www.mysupermarket.co.uk/Shopping/FindProducts.aspx?Query=Lynx%20Shower%20Gel%20-%202012%20Final%20Edition%20(250ml)

    Lynx Shower Gel - Attract (250ml) A £2.38 v T £1.00
    http://www.mysupermarket.co.uk/Shopping/FindProducts.aspx?Query=Lynx%20Shower%20Gel%20-%20Attract%20(250ml)

Buy 3 in AVT shop only if SEL states in offer, will need to go CS for refund and gift card

Lynx Shower Gel - Deep Space (250ml)A £2.38, doesn't compare well anywhere but similar price in target shops

Then fortress is it caer, as you chose that user ID :) and not the explanation below, as you didn't know the Welsh word for it!
