just renewed my boiler central heating cover with HES
the service was great when I needed them last year for 2 breakdowns.

I was paying £9.98 and they wanted £18.50 per month on renewal:(

I told them I could change to npower at £15.50 for same cover and get £80 quidco. so = £8.84 per month.

he said best offer is £13.50 as he read cb t&a and I would have to have energy with npower as well. :(

I said id call him back as wanted to absorb the t&c myself. :o

rang him back and told him he had T&c wrong as this is a new quidco today so I would move if he could not better offer. :(

I wore him down he agreed to let me stay at £9.98 :D:D:D

I really did not want to move as im very happy with the service.

also if anyone else is interested in HES, you could get it for £8.98 going through link from mse as you get 10% discount as far as I understand. but npower is almost this price if you mess about with quidco
    hope this has helped someone.

Really not happy with my boiler cover as I am paying that price:eek:. I should have switched to British Gas and would have paid about £5 a month less. They managed to persuade me on stay though:o:o, as felt it would be too much hassle actually going ahead and switching. I should have gone through with the 'hassle' - the blighters refused my TCB as well the previous year, so didn't even get any of that and of course not getting any staying with them an extra year. Our boiler is virtually 'brand new' and what they are doing for that £15.50/mth!:eek: Very little indeed. Basically amounted to a young man coming round one day last summer for a few minutes check and not much else. Of course, it's "peace of mind" and they can all charge way more for that, but our boiler is only a few years old, has never gone wrong yet and I'm not happy to pay money for "peace of mind". That was an expensive mistake not switching. Probably lost £72 on that mistake.

I had the phone company and its offers as well - to be frank, I'm not even convinced about them and don't think they are any good. They all, very conveniently (for them), go down to the same straight offer price. I would have had broadband at expensive half price £2.50/mth elsewhere. With them, giving me several months "free" but costing more on the other months (i.e. making the rest not free but paid for by the overpaid other months) - I worked out their total offer (after I'd gone off the phone:o) and it worked out, very strangely, at the precisely the same price. I don't think I am saving - just getting the same bog standard as everywhere else and I'm not happy! I bet they all have the same 'floor' to which they will go.

Not much change in M, at least not much on the substantive 'half price' items. Same standard prices as usual:rotfl: - and they are way too costly:rotfl::rotfl:. The exception to the lack of change is the Unwashed Potatoes (12.5Kg) that are now back at £2:T, except that, for me, that offer comes a week too late as already bought some potatoes:(:(. They can now be called "half price" this time, as they went up to a much higher price after the last £2 offer than they normally do. Last time, it was "Was £3.49, now £2 - save £1.49!", now it's "Half price £2" but only because they've been a horrid £4 for several weeks in the meantime.

Next one, I've made the same mistake twice in a row now:(. Do you remember I had the BBQ Relish (320g) at 65p, and I thought that was a good price? It was 39p a couple of weeks ago, and I again thought that was good:(. Now 15p!:D:D:j Is that their last offer though?

In addition, the CBY Sweet Piccalilli equivalent is on 15p (RTC) in M. That may well compare, but not yet!

The M Sweet Pickle jar (495g in M - need to check if there's one comparable) is now 25p. This is cheaper than the price per unit on the Savers Pickles. So, I'll be crossing those off - and they will never ever again appear on the list as they have been too expensive for years and months all along!:rotfl:

The Savers Ham tin (200g) has also taken another price down - now 39p trying to clear that. And the Savers Beef Curry tin (400g), 30p (was 40p).

Some Veetee Dine In pasta (250g) - a couple of versions of that - gone down to 39p. From £1.59:eek: to some 'offer' price and then to this. However, there are still full price SELs underneath the label so, if that is the situation more widely, then I feel these are risky on the APG this time (assuming they are even available in A, I need to check that), but because they seem risky, I think need to wait at least a further price collection for them to pick up 39p. I feel not this one!

The Typhoo tea has reappeared at £2.74, the Butternut Squash (don't know if that compares) is at 69p and, for info., though nowhere near as good as 750g sprouts around Christmas at 3 for £1.50, the 500g fresh sprouts packs are 69p. Some Hartley's Jelly Pots have gone down to 25p (will only be useful if you can tie them in with a glitch though:rotfl:), but not the 1 Fruit Portion ones - they are not included in the M offer.

I still don't really know why I have £3.99 wines on my list. They have now been there for quite a while - and only got put onto the list in the first place because there was a 25% off offer in M. That long ago! I reckon it costs about a pound to make a bottle of wine, and really they ought not to be on my list nowadays, although I suspect they are useful being there for people that track these kinds of things. Nonetheless, I now have some Gallo wines at £3.99 offer price for M and, given that other wines at the same price - 'normal' price - e.g. M Hock, M Liebfraumilch - are referenced on my list, if I'm keeping those on, then the Gallos really should be put onto the list as well now. So, they'll be going on - if found in A, even though, really, all of them perhaps ought to be deleted completely off!:rotfl:

That'll do, for the mentions - I'll update the list 'in due course'.:)

Note price increase in T, in case of DTD opp. They weren't as cheap as M, so increase the price and they still aren't as cheap as M:rotfl:! Was £1.32 in T last time. Maybe changing to £1.99 tomorrow:think:.
