Eldest son is being an utter pain.

We picked him up from the airport on Tuesday, Wednesday it was New year, Thursday he started looking for a car which he bought on Friday.

he is now bored and on the point of booking flights to Japan even though he will barely have 8 or 9 days there as he starts back at work in 3 weeks. it is equally cold in Japan and his mates there are also all at work.

His mates here have gone back to work and anyway they have all have girlfriends or houses or both so they don't have any spare cash or time to be going out and about with eldest son while he is on leave.

so this morning I suggest getting a game of squash together with his mate, going up to the snow dome place as they have snowboarding lessons on a Sunday afternoon, joining the local running group who meet 2 evenings a week. We suggested that he might actually like to go somewhere when he picks up the car on Monday - going to see his sister or brother or just driving about ... Everything is being rejected or falling on deaf ears

for the moment he has gone off to the gym - this is mostly what he does - gym or x box

next week is going to be a misery

Can you not fix him up with someone? Get him out on date, order him an escort or register him on Match.com.

That way he will a) smell less bad (us men always try harder when there is a possibility of nookie) b) be out of the house more (well at least at first) c) not be as grumpy (no explanation needed) d) check that the suspension on his car is not knackered.

I have done this job on Friday- lots of items went to the bin, as they stayed in the freezer for too long. At least you will have some fresh products for the new year ;)

    :eek::eek::eek:

Back of the class for you.

A true Elite will eat things out of the freezer that have been there for years. :p :rotfl:

Well not everyone's cup of tea but I have eaten things around 2 years after they were first frozen. ;)

    Wow, that's real saving!
I get rid of products, that i don't fancy anymore at least once a year.
Do you have a separate freezer?
I have fridge/freezer with couple of drawers in it so not much space for old things

Oh poop just been checking my huge whoopsie receipt from Friday night. I was charged £4 for some lamb chops dated that day. :(

Was going to take them back for refund, not actually take them back to return them just to get my money back but stoopidly I didn't notice they had been missed from being yellow stickered at all. I will blame those strange men leading me astray. :rotfl:

Oh well at least they were in the multibuy so I am going to think they were free and I just paid 80p each for my other 5 items. So my 3 packs of chicken breast were not as cheap as I first thought. :( but still not bad. ;)

Yes I have 2 separate freezers. :rotfl:

I think I am in the majority on here quite a few of us have more than one. ;)

I can't think I ever have thrown anything out from a freezer, I think Snap-ant did give a very old joint of beef to a dog once, well someone did.

Old stuff can spoil a bit but usually perfectly fine to eat. You just have to be more inventive with how you cook it but I am lucky as I have a man to do that. :D

    Hi miss_corerupted :hello:,

Have you tried ringing a different Halifax branch, they might have appointments available?

We have just opened an account for DS at Cov building society with a terrible interest rate of 0.5%, it's a proper kids account in that it's in his name - his money, but can easily be transferred out (to another account in his name).

Was a bit of a rush as his nanny + grandad wanted to put money into an account for him for xmas.

Have you done much research ? I'm looking for a better rate than 0.5% pa! :o

If any of the :A on here have any ideas I would be very grateful too!

Santander mini 3% on balance over £300. May be suitable depending on age xx

I haven't tried another branch, next nearest is 1/2 hr drive away. It just seems soooo stupid! Staff hanging around doing nothing, but still have to make an appointment.

Thanks Banana babe the Santander Mini account is for under 10's with 3% and it right opp halifax in high street! and you can just pop in no appointment needed
I have dyslexia, so get used to my spelling and grammar :)

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
forgot to say. I closed DS saving account yesterday with principality (rubbish rate!!) walked the 40 yards to halifax. Need an appointment ok I say when can I have one? End of feb is the next available!!! Despite there being 2 members of staff wandering around doing nothing!!!!!!

So now I have his money, which is the best account to get for him?? I'm getting confused between them all.

I found that so annoying almost a 2 month wait for an appointment for a kids bank account!!!

I've flicked back on demand and just re-watched Martin Lewis money saving programme (Friday at 8pm).

Halifax kids regular saver at a whopping 6% you have to save between £10 and £100 per month every month for a year. The rate is fixed. You can't withdraw within that time.

If you want an account where you're children can just save and take out their money then it's the Halifax Or Bank of Scotland young saver which pays 3%.

Really informative programme and well worth a watch on iplayer or catch up if you have it.
